2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from Tesco (I think). Poured ruby with a rapidly dissipating off white head. Sweet, malt heavy aroma with some sticky fruit and cream soda. Initial flavour is dates, burnt sugar and chewy grain. Finish was far more alcoholic than one might expect for the strength and quite sickly sweet.

500ml bottle from supermarket. Dark, almost black coloured, no real head. Aroma of dried fruit. Flavour is sweet malt, and dried fruit. Not sure if this 7.4% is now the norm, but a good beer all the same.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle from one of the supermarkets. Poured a clear dark brown with a thin frothy tan head. The aroma is big roast and a hint of yeast with some burnt treacle. The flavour is medium bitter with a smooth liqourice, slightly alcoholic palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation and a long bitter finish. This was a lovely heart-warming beer and perhaps one of the best I’ve ever had from Marstons.

4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
Looked alright, smelled alright, tasted alright..... but wouldn’t recommend consuming on a regular basis, especially if you’re a bit of a lightweight / not used to drinking as this stuff is evil (but in a good way) as one bottle’s enough to get you feeling pished, and pretty rough.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle in Bow, London. Dark, cola coloured, no head retained. Aroma of liquorice primarily, and dried fruit. Flavour sourish cola at first, then developing to big, warm sweet malt, dried fruit, alcohol pepper. Aftertaste slightly sticky, fig syrup, burntness. A decent drop, though not my favourite at this strength.

2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dunkelbraunes Bier mit wenig Schaum. Ausschließliches Blockmalzaroma. Süßer, sehr süßer, ja geradezu klebriger Malzgeschmack mittlerer Würze. Wo bleibt da der Hopfen als Gegenpart? Nicht gut!
