50cL bottle. Pours a reddish brown. Smells of caramelized dark fruit, roasted malt, and English hops -- nice potency and balance in the aroma. Taste is initially a rapid explosion of flavor and medium (and somewhat rough) carbonation. The flavors here are strong alcohol, some nut, caramel, roasted malt, and a very small hint of dark fruit. The flavor then coalesces into a strong bitter (with a present alcohol taste) before finishing on a bittersweet note with a hint of caramel and maple syrup. Overall, the flavor is a bit rough (there are points at which the alcohol and bitterness are not finely balanced with the other notes), and this feeling is augmented by a moderately rough carbonation. I would prefer a more finely balanced beer with a bit more subtlety. But, then again, the rough feeling does give it a certain character. This beer is probably worth a try. Flavor is mellowed by some cheddar -- the two go quite well together.

I was a bit disappointed. A bit too sweet and dull taste. Quite one-sided too.

I was attracted to the good looking man on the label. Poured dark-coloured with a hint of auburn and a thick head which quickly dissipated to a thin crema. The aroma reminded me of caramel and bread. It felt thick on the tongue but was neither overly sweet nor bitter. Is this umami, a word I have never heard of? Probably not. However, it left me sucking my tongue to try and find out more. Overall a pretty solid beer but not striking out in any direction, which might be its strength. It tastes like a good session beer, but it’s 7.6%. Wow. I reckon this could grow on me.

Bottled 50cl. A huge amount of fudge and banana in the nose. Overly sweet and reminiscent of diacetyl. Disgusting.

Pours darkish brown with a very light head. Aroma is sweet malts and caramel. Flavor is not quite as sweet as I feared, but quite sweet anyway. Decent.
