Bottle. Nice head with medium duration. Color is brown. Aroma and taste are dried fruits, rich malt, caramel, nuts and hops. Long sweet finish.

Bottle, 7.6%. Peppery and creamy aroma. Very dark brown colour, clear and with a chestnut shine. Good sweet flavour, quite peppery, quite malty. Very nice and actually well-balanced in spite of the strength.

500ml bottle from Cask & Glass, Tonbridge, the best offy in East Kent. BBE Dec 07. Rich ruby colour with thin beige head. Not sure what I expected from this. Syrupy malt with some peppery hop aroma. Rich fruit. However in the mouth you can still tell that it is pasteurised due to that awful candy sugar, boiled sweet flavour. Raisiny malt finish is good, nice fruit and a decent hop presence. Fine beer for the winter, the alcohol doesn’t make it harsh, so it does show some adeptness. Like GarethYoung I thought that it was a bit empty in the palate.

Dark red ruby, steady brown creamy head. Nose is chocolaty barley, very Jacobite Ale -like. Medium to full bodied, typical Old Ale: toffeeish, barley flavor, some roast and alcoholic touch. Well-balanced.

Pours deep nutty brown with a small, creamy, off-white head. Sweet malty aroma, some toffee, good roasted malts, some dried fruits and a touch of chocolate. Medium carbonation, fine mouthfeel. Flavour is a bit roasted, some viniousness, lots of prunes and raisins. Medium sweetness, good dark roasted caramel. Fine beer.

Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, red-brown with a slender, beige foam head. Lots of dark berries and grapes in the aroma. Medium to big sweet flavor, mostly semi-ripe berries, grapes, plums, some rich bready malts, very light bitterness but really not much at all. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Very faint alcohol warmth to finish, some sticky and toasted sugars, hints of chocolate, more berries, grapes, cherries, plums, suggestions of toffee. I’m actually somewhat fond of this beer. It drinks pretty smoothly.

Bottle.Creamy white good mostly lasting head. Dark red brown colour. Wonderfull berr to look at. Alas no aroma, but powerfull taste of licorice. Fantastic long finish. Oily palate but too carbonated.

Bottle. Deep amber colour, short small head. Aroma of roasted malts, hops and some nuttiness. Flavour is heavy on fruitiness, some raisins, moderate sweet roasty caramel, bit nutty, moderate roasty maltiness. Dry, moderate bitter very sweet finish.

Bottled: Burgundy colour. Clear. Light brown head. Very sweet and malty. Has some alcohol notes. Is rather bland and vague in the flavour notes. Ends on a swet and malty note.

Dark mahogany-red with a nice head. The aroma has notes of raisins and dark, ripe fruits. The flavour has notes of caramel, dark fruit, raisins and plum, port wine and the body is quite full. The alcohol is well hidden. In the finish I find caramel and weak hints of licorice.
