4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance is very dark, almost black, with little quickly dissipating light brown foam. Tastes of chocolate, caramel, easy to drink, smooth, kind of watery but the flavours still remain clearly expressed and leave a nice mildly bitter aftertaste. Liked it a lot, easy to drink, satisfying flavours, I recommend it.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
500 ml brown bottle with a BB date stamp of 31 Jan 2016.
The body is essentially black and opaque, but the brew is actually clear and one can see ruby highlights in the light. The head is small and weak for style.
Feel: very smooth, near full body with very well set medium carbonation.
Appropriately mild but very satisfying flavor and aroma. Lightly sweet aroma and very mildly bitter taste. Mild aftertaste.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle as Marstons Stout from Morrison’s. Opaque black beer with a thin bubbly head. Smell is dry and malty. Flavour is what you’d expect from a solid if thoroughly unspectacular stout. Dry malt, a bit of fruit and chocolate. Slightly sweet finish.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Very decent stout, though the head is a bit thin and the malt has a slight taste of being burned. The brewer seems to imply that this is a beer suitable to drink with oysters, but that is not at all what makes a stout an oyster stout: it’s the oyster shells that were used to clarify the beer. They were cheaper than, say, isinglass, because oysters used to be a poor man’s food and mountains of shells were readily available. No oysters were used in this one, probably. The label is nothing special.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Smooth and velvety. Lacking a bit of body, but has a good hoppy taste which gives it some depth.

3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Pours coffee brown, thin head. Weak aroma of coffee, chocolate, caramel and some metallic notes. Same in taste, thin body, roasty low bitter finish. Still the beer is smooth and easy drinking.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Pours a deep, dark brown to black color with a light brown head. Malty aroma of chocolate, coffee, sweet liqourice, dried fruit and some caramel. The flavor is malty and sweet as well with chocolate, lactose, roasted malt and some liqourice. Has a medium body, and a light bitterness. Has a nice aroma with fruity tones. Great taste.

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
UPDATED: APR 4, 2015 Dark ruby beer, low carbonation, creamy off-white head. A touch of toffee and biscuit aroma, faint woody hop, and a dry finish. Relatively bland and watery for a stout.
