Pours a very deep brown, perhaps its black, with a thin tan head. Aroma doesn’t really jump out at you. I get toffee, a little coffee, a little bit of licorice, and raisin. The taste at first impression really has a metallic quality to it. Moving on, it has a roasted maltiness overall, bready, mild toffee, and slight qualities of licorice. Aftertaste is very bready. Light in body, with a very thin texture, and lacking in carbonation. I am not a fan of this one.

500ml bottle. Pint glass. Roasted, burnt & floral aromas as cap is removed. Pours black in color showing very dark ruby tints to the light. Head is beige, creamy, close & lasting. Dried nuts, hints of wood, black coffee infusion & roasted grain are displayed to the nose. Roasted, burnt & watery upfront. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Silky palate & subtle spicy touch. Hints of bitter cocoa, well balanced malts & hops & dried sensation. Sweet finish & slight hop on the aftertaste. Nice drinkability.

Bottle, pours dark brown with a beige, starts slightly sweet with chocolate and then is a little bitter with coffee to finish, pretty good

Black color , with a creamy cappuccino white-brown head. Very light with some bitter notes. Not a really bad beer - but overall it has a lack of character and taste.

wimpyjoe (2967) - Hebden Bridge, West Yorkshire, ENGLAND - MAR 26, 2014
Bottle. Almost black with a fast disappearing head. It’s a very dry and tasteless brew with a small sweetness rather than any roasted malts. Fizzes a little in the palate.

Keg, in the Long Room at Lord’s with Paul. Darkish coke colour, thin foam, off white. Served a bit cold to taste of much. Smooth, in that marketing man’s dream sort of way, when a better word might be bland. Slightly silky mouth feel, not much roasty or hoppy. Bit disappointing really.
