Used to drink a lot of this. Looks the part, being a nice copper brown, yellowy foam head with lots of lacing. Aroma - not much. Taste is a lovely rich bitterness which fades to watery. Nice feel in the mouth. Pretty good aftertaste. It’s not amazing - just a good solid bitter. Like all Midlands beers, it has a hint of factory floor - but in a nice way.

Finally bought a bottle only to find out the beer has been retired since 2013... well then! No bottling date, so that wouldn’t have tipped me off, either. Aroma: Biscuit and moderate caramel with light honey and spicy wood. Appearance: Rich, translucent copper pour with a foamy tan head that fades into a sticky skin. Flavor: Nice melding of caramel biscuit and woody spice throughout, leading to a fairly dry, lightly bitter finish. Palate: Light body, slick texture, soft carbonation, long finish. Overall: Probably somewhat removed from what the brewer intended at this point, but still a solid ale. Wish I could have tried this fresh.

The aroma has hints of the draught version, but this seems over carbonated and thinner than the pints of it I have enjoyed in the past.

Intriguing aroma - woody and grassy. Reminiscent of carbonated piss in appearance but not too offensive. The pleasant aroma is drawing me in as I take a taster sip. Immediately I get cereal, apple, wood and grass tones balanced with tangy lemon. Moderate fizz. Sharp texture then smooth and comforting. Enjoyable experience.

UPDATED: MAR 29, 2015 Marston’s Pedigree premium Pale Ale 4.5% ABV. Oxyd and metallic aroma with bitter almonds and ¿fish? Small head not persistent at all. Better flavour than aroma: Some malty and toasted notes. Aftertaste: Some acceptable bitterness but covered by metallic flavour. ¿Was it spoiled?

*Old rating. Best before 31. Jul 11. Smooth and fresh Ale. Nice well hopped, slightly malty, smooth with sweetish hints. Easy to drink with a nice bitterness in the aftertaste.

Pours a clear dark amber color, topped with a small white head. A very mildy aroma, some caramel can be noted. The taste is slightly watery and sweet, tiny bittery feel and some nice caramel in the aftertaste. Smooth and easily drinkable.

Bottle from Lidl Battle Hill. Pours dark amber, plenty of carbonation. Good backbone, a strong flavoursome English ale
