I like it. Always have. Dave used to drink this so when we went for a pint I’d often have one. His daughter was called Dave as well.

Can be fantastic, rarely is. A very difficult pint for a pub to pull off, very few people know how to serve it. A sulphrous brown Burton bitter, yeasty/eggy nose, astringent malty taste and finish.

On cask at Rose and Crown, Boylestone. I normally manage to avoid this, pours amber with white head. Unusual taste, sulphur possibly, it’s not very good in this day and age. I won’t be rushing to drink another one.

Had this all over, but this pint was cask at Lord’s. Have to say this is a very variable pint, I’ve had good, bad and terrible examples and it seems very dependent on freshness and quality of establishment. This pint was surprisingly good, almost reminiscent of some of Michael Jackson’s Pedigree write-ups, with a fresh aroma playing off malt, hops and sulphur, and a moreishly bitter flavour. The lesser spotted classic English pint.

Golden with a small creamy head. Has some malts and hops but mainly a good and smooth body.

On tap, pours a solid but clear amber. Not much of a flavor, and a pretty weak palate ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask@The White Hart, Ashby, Leicestershire. Amber beer with a strong head. The aroma is quite well hopped, and the flavour is very well hopped with lots of toffee and dryness. Overall a really well hopped English bitter quite nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Little to comment on. Served out the beer engine with a sparkler, so great mouth feel, but did nothing for the aroma or any hops, if they were present. By no means bad, but neither great or exciting.

Cask@ Blue Stoops Chesterfield. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Not that it had that far to go,but it,s now at rock bottom. Looks lighter coloured than it used to be and must be brewed by a YTS who hates his job. Having this stuff alongside John Smith,s cask and Tetleys would kill off binge drinking in an instant. Maybe the government should take note.
