COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Marston’s Pedigree Very Special Old Pale is our finest expression of a classic Pale Ale. It is exceptionally complex and layered, slowly matured over five weeks in the oak casks of our Burton Unions. A two stage hopping process delivers an intense hoppy aroma and the addition of brandy oak cask staves creates a subtle mellow character to the beer. VSOP delivers a rich complex pale ale with an opulent and luxurious finish. Enjoy.

Mittleres Bernstein, reichlich Schaum.

Poured a clear amber colour, with a thin white head. The aroma was of caramel and malt and was rather strong. The flavour is medium to high bitter, with oaky alcoholic notes and chewy caramel. The palate is smooth and the bitterness sticks around for a while to deliver a very refreshing ale. Serve this "warm" and you won’t be disappointed. Drinking it cold destroys the flavours!

[4584-20120705] 500mL bottle. Light grassy petrol malt aroma. Clear, light orange red body with a quick foamy white head and lots of bubbles stuck to the inside of the glass. Smoked wooden wet hops flavour has a sickly sweet finish. Medium body. Not a fan. (5/3/2/3/9) 2.2

Bottle. It’s pouring a small, off-white head over a clear, dark golden body. The aroma has some notes of butterscotch, but is mostly fruity. Apples, pears and some notes of dried apricots. Lightly malty, very boring. Medium body, dry and softly carbonated. The flavor has a nice bitterness, with pale malts, fruityness and some faint butterscotch. Not much impact from the brandy cask staves. Bitter finish. A quite decent beer, but oh so utterly boring. 121124

500ml bottle. Aroma is toffee, malty. Some hops. Pours a medium thick faded cream head. Colour is gold, somewhat cloudy with light carbonation. Initial taste very bitter with malt and grapefruit, vineyard peach tartness coming through. Unusual but in no means a bad thing. Short finish. Very nice, dangerously moreish! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
