COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Marston’s Pedigree Very Special Old Pale is our finest expression of a classic Pale Ale. It is exceptionally complex and layered, slowly matured over five weeks in the oak casks of our Burton Unions. A two stage hopping process delivers an intense hoppy aroma and the addition of brandy oak cask staves creates a subtle mellow character to the beer. VSOP delivers a rich complex pale ale with an opulent and luxurious finish. Enjoy.

Bottle from Gardiners & Haskins, Bristol. Deep amber with a decent, white head. Oranges, floral hops, a touch of boiled sweets, bready malts and a moderately bitter finish. Fine.

500ml bottle from the LCBO in Peterborough, Ontario. Best before August 14, 2012. Clear golden copper in colour with a thin quickly dissipating white head, good lacing. The aroma is sweet, woody, light alcohol, some fruit. The flavour is sweet with some toffee, fruity and floral hops. Sweet mouthfeel, medium/light body, moderate carbonation. Finishes long, sweet, warming and a bit peppery. Alright stuff, nothing really special about this.

Shared 500 ml bottle, from CITTI-Markt Flensburg (BraufactuM collection). BB date 21.10.2012. Bottle No. 303827. ABV is 6.7%. Hops are Golding, Fuggle, Sovereign, Target and Celia. Deep golden to orange colour, moderate white (or slightly off-white) head. Nice and "typically English" aroma of toffee and English hops, earthy notes. Well balanced flavour, seems to have aged well. Same elements as in the aroma, fairly dry. A beer I’d buy again.

Bottle at home in London with Chris. Pours perfectly gold with a fine, creamy head. Ripe, rotting fruits in the nose, hints of alcohol. Medium sweet flavor, some sugary bread, bit of toffee, faint bitterness, plums. Medium. Idied with fine to avrage carbonation. Sweet, lightly warming finish, sugary mals, ripe fruits. It isn’t that bad.
