Grassy lemon citrus, which then turns into a medium sweet, honey-fest, not for me

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
500ml bottle from Tesco. Pours clear pale gold with a thin white head. Sweet honey aromas, light lemon and hay. Taste is sweet, with a light bitterness that builds towards astringency at the end. More honey and slightly soapy. An OK lager.

2.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
500ml Brown bottle: Marston/Banks’s answer to the new ’craft lager’ market in the UK. Poured into a tall ’Fosters’ glass at home on 28th Nov 13.
The beer looked a good medium depth golden colour and unlike most lagers, craft or otherwise this had a white head that actually hung around for a while. The body was clear and bright with carbonation bubbles rising steadily throughout the tasting.
The nose was weak citrus and nothing else, usual non-smelling lager/pilsner otherwise.
The taste was a mixture of citrus hints and semi-sweet maltiness with a fruity dry finish as the hops took over again after the malty centre.
Good body feel and nicely put together.
This is one of the better ’craft lagers’ around at the moment in the UK (that I’ve had anyway). So well done Marston/Banks’s.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle bought from Tesco. Pours a nice clear golden colour with a good lasting head. Strong citrus scents on the nose, mildly soapy, but still pleasant. Nicely carbonated and the taste is surprisingly good; slightly lemon, honey, and nutty with a slightly bitter finish. Much better than I was expecting, a pleasant surprise.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
ShiteNight at The New Penguin. Bottle from Drugby 24 hour Tesco. Orange gold with a generous, slightly undulating white foam. Good dry JHB-esque aroma with soapy Fairy Liquid and lime Fruit Pastilles. That green Fruit Pastille note recurs on the palate which is floral, crisp and hop-accented until a lingering rich tea and cashew hit kicks in. Black tea leaf and lime. A bit throwaway and annoying (in the JHB style) but another step in the right direction from Marstons/Banks’s.

Bottle from Tesco. Orange amber beer with residual head. Aroma of citrus and hops. Taste is citrus, orange notes and some dry hoppiness. A very decent beer, shows what you can do with lager.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Tesco. Sweet, grassy, earthy malt aroma and flavour. Has some faint medicinal and raspberry notes, finishes quite dry, with orange notes. This got better as it progresses. Not bad at all
