ekstedt (5911) - Göteborg, SWEDEN - AUG 2, 2008
Can (50 cl) from my local grocery store. Clear pakle golden with medium white head. Grainy bland malt aroma, no hops. Thin and watery. A bit sweet, low bitterness. Did not pick the off-flavours accounted for by other raters, perhaps due to that I had it together with spicy food.

Svesse (6888) - Hässelby, SWEDEN - JUN 28, 2008
(Canned) Pale golden colour with brief, frothy, white head. Malty, grainy nose with faint hint of grassy hops. Malty, grainy taste with notes of paper and flour. Weak hints of metallic hops in a short finish. On the plus side: fairly dry and rather clean. But mainly bland and boring.

(50 cl can) Clear golden color, small white head. Grassy malty scent, with a touch of raw meat and protein drinks. Wery thin very metallic and bloody taste. Thin and spritzy mouthfeel, low bitterness. Long not pleasant lingering metallic aftertaste.

ALLOVATE (2594) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - NOV 16, 2006
From a bruised and battered looking can into a pint, chilled from the fridge. As with ’jacob_wennbom’ it does look the part in the glass - though certainly all fog and mirrors. Big, dense, cauliflower head held out and laced well. The body a sunny gold, bright and finely carbonated. Downhill form there.
Eggy fart, tinny, cereal grain nose with thankfully nothing else. Very feint malts in the mouth peak out from under layers of plastic and soggy cardboard with just a pinch of cracked pepper in back. Finish is clean, watery and very crisp remaining so for the length. That is pretty much it, it has about as much life as ’Michelob Ultra’. Nothing but fizzy water overall. (50cL can, 04/02/07, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

This beer looks actually not all that bad when poured up in a glass. Brass-ish in color with a white (suprisingly long lasting) foam. Aroma is grainy but thin. Except for a sticky metallic smell. Taste is hardly anything but metal. I guess I also sense some floral hoppy flavors when I flush the beer around in my mouth but since doing that is quite repulsive it’s not likely to happen anyway. The mouthfeel is very thin and even though this is a 3.5% beer, I still sense a small sting of alcohol. I suppose this is much like what iron and water (in holy matramony) whould feel like. Martens 3.5% Lager might very well be the worst beer I’ve ever had. However, that won’t stop me from having it again. It’s extremely cheap where I live, and nothing get’s me in a better mood than crappy beer for a small amount of money. At least on some days. Cheers!
