Bottle pour @ the 21st Richmond Gathering. Light gold with a small head. Nose is junk white bread. Party beads. Taste is similar. Junky plastic and bread. Nasty. Light body, soft carb. Unpleasant.

Green plastic bottle holding 50 cl (16.9 fluid ounces), screw-top, best before mid December 2007, drank 1st November 2007. Poured into one of my Veltin Pilsner glasses ( 20cl size) three times. All pilsners should be a clear golden yellow in colour, some are really pale, some darker, this is midway between and looked fine. A good white head, which did sink a little fast, to leave a thin covering above the beer which had a steedy stream of bubbles slowly meandering up the body towards the head. Can you smell dry hops and dry yeast? Well most likely not, in a beer anyway. That is what hit my nose. I normally give pilsners a 3 for aroma because I rarely smell anything, but I can smell this one and it isnít to my likeing. The dryness carries on into the taste, again not really to my likeing, it is not refreshing or as clean tasting as a German pilsner and lacks the fizz of an Italian Med Lager. It sits between the two and fails to excite me at all. Strangely, the bigger the mouthful the more I liked it, a supping beer it isnít, but a throwing or quaffing beer maybe. Trouble is a donít quaff or throw beer down my throat anymore, I like to supp and savour the taste. Ever licked a shoe box?

Tall can: Pours clear gold with a tall white head. Grassy, grainy malt aroma. Taste is cardboard, grainy bitter. Basically...just unpleasant.

Aromas is grains and beery. The flavor is similar to the aroma along with a crisp, mildly hoppy finish. Decent enough.

500 ml. can. Pours a pale gold with a decent white head. Aroma of grain, malt, and grass. Taste is the same with some metallic coming through. Nothing bad, but very plain.

Can from Total wine Sterling. Smells like what I would imagine the Outkast planet of Stankonia to smell like. Itísgrassy funk. doesnít taste like much on the tongue. has a weird kind of aftertaste. Ugh!

Richmond 21st. Clear yellow, slight head. Aroma was skunky, from a can???, light honey malts, faint floral hops. Flavor matches, sweeter than expected. So-so.

Pours perfectly pale with a tight white head and nice lacing on the glass.

The aroma strikes a balance between that terrible breakfast cereal malt and some nice bright malt. Itís got some mild herbal hops in there as well.

The flavor isnít bad, it retains some decent herbal character. There is some defendant tinniness to it & more breakfast cereal than I would prefer. There is however some decent bright maltiness. Certainly one of the best Belgian interpretations of pale lager Iíve had.

Palate is lively and sharp.

Small pour from a can. Thanks to Franky Boy! Clear golden with a small white head and no lacing. Aroma is of grain and is somewhat fresh. Taste is also of grain with skunky notes a light bitterness. Crisp, refreshing, drinkable and not as bad as I thought it would be. Hey, I even think I could be able to drink a whole can by myself.
