3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Ungstrup (24024) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - DEC 14, 2005
[Cask at GBBF 2005] A hazy orange beer with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet malty combined with a slight hoppy note. The flavor is sweet with a dusty hoppy note - my guess is Goldings. Somewhat boring.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 harrisoni (10070) - Ashford, Kent, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2005
Cask at GBBF 2005. Slightly hazy amber colour. Not keen on this beer. I thought it smelt of sweet urine. Sweetish in mouth with dry nettle hop finish. Not the best US beer I had
2.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 jcwattsrugger (9057) - Florida and, New Jersey, USA - JAN 30, 2006
on tap-pours a light tan head with cloudy gold color. Aroma is dry hops. Taste is bitter hops, dry. Kind of one dimensional and middle of the road.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 madsberg (7570) - Søborg, DENMARK - AUG 6, 2005
Draught @ GBBF 2005: Orange coloured. Unclear. Off white head. Light herbal and spiced aroma. Flavour is light floral and somewhat soapy. light spices notable. Is fruity bitter in the end.
2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 chriso (7065) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - SEP 28, 2005
Cask (gravity dispense), GBBF, August 2005. Appropriate name because this is indeed just another ale. I guess we see so few US craft brews over here that we expect something muscular and dynamic when we do. This reminded me more of a standard British bitter than an APA. Reasonable malt and hop balance but there’s nothing bursting forth. Some herbal notes. Dry and a bit dull. Short finish. Very average.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 maeib (6645) - Wootton, Northampton, Northamptonshire, ENGLAND - AUG 5, 2005
Cask conditioned - gravity dispense - GBBF 2005. I’ve input this as an APA because that’s what another website has. I’m not too sure but I’m not the World’s foremost expert on US beers. The beer pours a hazy copper and the aroma seems to have some herbal rosemary and ginger notes. The taste is dry and the spiciness also comes through. Didn’t get a great deal of hops but the malty spicy characters probably bullied the hops. An intersting beer to say the least.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 duff (5483) - St, Margarets, Greater London, ENGLAND - AUG 7, 2005
Cask@GBBF 05’. Good to see they showed some creativity with the name. Initially malty/bready/crackery. Touch of caramel. Citrusy and lightly floral in the finish. Dry and not too bad.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Glouglouburp (4784) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - FEB 25, 2010
In short: Plenty of honeyed cereals with plenty fruity and grassy hops. A superior APA.
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Cloudy dark yellow topped by a medium white head
In long: Nice hoppy that is leafy and grassy. Plenty of good tasty crisp honeyed cereals malts. Very hoppy with a bitterness of medium intensity that is halfway between fruity and grassy. Medium dryness. Very nice APA. Current average is below 3.0!?!?!?! What the hell are these people rating? Another ale?
2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 SilkTork (4738) - Rochester, Kent, United Kingdom, WALES - OCT 4, 2005
Cask @ World’s Biggest Pub! Warm straw aroma. Slight rough & interesting edge to an average orangey bitter.
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 tiggmtl (4475) - Vancouver, British Columbia, CANADA - SEP 8, 2005
Minty, herbal, sweaty aroma. Hazy copper coloured body with low but lasting cover of off-white head. Strong herbal, green hop flavour with assertive bitterness but not much malt character. Light, dry body with fair carbonation. Cask at GBBF 2005.
