3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at Untapped fest. Brown-orange pour with a white head. The aroma has some strong chocolate notes as well as some light smoke. The flavor is a bit different. While the dry chocolate is still present, I get a lot more smoke and charred malt notes in the flavor. Still, this is an easy to drink beer. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Interesting beer. Glad I got to try it.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
On tap at the Zio Carlo release party. Pours a hazy maroon orange color with a ring of tan head. Aroma shines here. Lovely notes of caramel sweetness and heavy malt mixed with a roasted element. Has parts that remind me of the pretzel stout. Flavor is certainly malty, roasted, dry with a smoked characteristic that lingers through the finish. I didn't pick it up right away as its subtle but once you place it, it is definitely present. A nice addition to their seasonal rotation.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Beerliner Truck, GABF 2012. Dark dark brown with a thin foamy light khaki head. Aroma had some exciting tones of smokey chocolate, light smoky char, and light cedar wood with some toffee. Flavor is dark and sweet with some sharp oaked tones, earthy toffee, bittersweet chocolate, and slight smokiness on a clean finish.
