This is a heavy-duty 9% abv red ale with a profusion of hop flavor and aroma. This beer is as big and proud as Texas. Because we add almost two pounds of American hops per barrel very late in the beer making process, The Imperial Texan is able to retain a wondrously piney and resinous hop character that perfectly balances its smooth but strong and dry malt backbone. This beer has a sticky presence that puts each sip perfectly on the tongue.

Tallboy from Central Mkt, beautiful red color, pours nice head, aroma and taste were lacking for me, would take Gordon/G'Knight over but was happy a local would make an imperial red ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a nice amber/red with a light tan head. An aroma of spicy hops and malt. A flavor of smokey malt with a toasted and hoppy finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours an opaque brown, thick head. Some caramel and brown sugar on the nose. Very malty, almost too much, overpowers the hoppy bitterness. This is a heavy beer, not my favorite but a solid ale.

Can. Pours a cloudy amber with small off white head. The aroma is strong pine and floral. Medium mouth, bitter hop bite, grass, resin finish, good.

Can at home. Pours a slightly hazy reddish gold with a persistent thin off white head. Aroma is very hoppy - pine, slight citrus, and more pine. Some maltiness also. Flavor follows. Very bitter. Really in the Imperial IPA but with a reddish hue. Nice beer. Sweet sticky finish.

This is the biggest beer I have tasted. The 100 IBU's really linger on the tongue. It's such a full bodied beer that you can sit on one can for an hour. Each mouthful is to be savoured as this is a flavour bomb. Totally divine. This is my favourite beer. And it's very good value for money.

This is a great beer. Pours amber, white head tight bubble. Caramel aroma some fruit hop aroma. Medium body nice carbonation little alcohol warming bitterness lessens as it warms and malt comes forward. Still a hop bitter aftertaste ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This thing doesn’t hit as hard as you would expect from a 9.7%, but introduces a ton of flavor as it flows. The finish is distinctly grapefruit but in no way offensive. It’s almost too-drinkable for an ale so strong. Love every sip.

16 oz can pours a red color with a nice white head. Aromas of citrus, grapefruit, light spice. Hop heavy but balanced a nice beer.

16 oz. can. Pours a medium, we’ll retained, light beige head, with extensive lacing, over a slightly hazy, dark amber (SRM 15) body.......nose is pine, resin, toasted malts, balance to the hops......taste is very slightly sweet to start, with barest hints of toffee/caramel, then strong pine, resin, citrus peel, arrive, finishing with strong hop bitterness, no esters, balance to the hops......moth feel, medium body, sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation adds tingle, and light acid. This is a very hop heavy, dominated, beer balanced back by just enough malts. The hops are not overly complex in either aroma or flavor, but they are very definitely American. BJCPP 7/3/14/4/7

Refrigerated 16 oz. aluminum can from blutt59, June 28, 2014, in a glass. Dark amber with red hues and big beige head. Aroma is strong caramel malt, medium body, medium/low carbonation, and little lacing. Taste is caramel malt, dank hops, herbal hops, and bitter finish. Lots of flavor, alcohol pretty well covered, just not my thing.
