Zu kalt gezapftes, sehr bananiges Weizen. Hefig bleibend, wenig bitter, verschiedene andere Fruchtnoten erscheinen in geringer Intensität. Süffig, die Bananigkeit nimmt mit der Zeit ab, herber. OK. 12/8/10/9//9

0.3 Litre at the BrewPub on 11 Sep 2013. Pours a cloudy, murky light brown: white head with a good creamy texture. I like Hefeweizen that have a banana feel to them: this fitted in well. The beer had a banana and vanilla nose/taste and I enjoyed the whole thing, some mild citrusy notes were also noticeable in the flavour as the beer warmed a little in the glass. Refreshing and true to style.

(draught) pours a murky golden colour with a frothy white head. aroma of peanuts and wheat, with a hint of solvent, some light banana and rotten peaches. flavour is mostly wheat and peaches, slightly sweet, with a minerally popcorn finish. medium-bodied with lively carbonation.

Draught at the brewpub. Hazy, golden-amber colour with a big, white head in the weizen glass. Very nice. Fruity aroma with banana, clove, yeasts, wheat malts and a rather fresh citrus or lemon note. Some herbal hops. Taste is sweet. Medium body, creamy texture and an average carbonation. Finishes sweet, spicy and fruity. Nice weizen, that lemon/citrus note lifts this beer from being average.

My Bottom Line :
Perfumy clove phenols lead to rich pear juice flavors as portly wheat rounds up this sweetish Weizen.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A ring of foam circles the cloudy dark blond. Strangely enough, their Pils looked like a wheat beer a lot more than this one…
-The soft effervescence nearly lightens up the chewy mouthfeel perfectly. It’s just a tad too heavy for my tastes in the style, I’m afraid.
-The estery component is much more reminiscent of pears than bananas in this one.
-The finish has a few herbal hops notes, but is mostly dominated by the yeast and wheat.

On tap at the brewpub.

Draught at the brauhaus
Muddy blond color; creamy head. The aroma is a bit smelly, of stale water. The mouthfeel is dry; wheat flavor, a bit spicy, with a light lemony character. Correct bitterness. Refreshing.

Draught @ Erste Freiburger Gasthausbrauerei Martins Brau, Kaiser Josephstr. 237, Freiburg, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany 79098.

Murky medium grey yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light malty, wheat, moderate yeasty, banana, rubber. Flavor is moderate sweet with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft. [20100929]

On tap at the Brewpub, Freiburg, Germany, 13-06-10 Pours yellowy brown with a white head. The aroma was banana and a little citrus, these two also being present in the mouth. Refreshing beer with medium carbonation, the nose is not unlike their other beer in that it is a little bit sharp, tangy fruit n nose and in mouth, fine and a little better than the Dunkel.
