3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: JUN 3, 2004 Bottled.
Clear amber colour, rich creamy head. Rich, fruity hoparoma, obviously from the dry hopping. Slightly citrusy up front. Nicely malty and caramelly. Long pleasant bitterness. Not far from an IPA.

Golden color. Some hop aroma, a bit fruity. Round mouthfeel, well hopped, with some aromatic hop. Quite good, for John Martin’s…

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Clear amber with a small head of foam. Aromas are sweet spicy hops. Flavours are caramel and toffee with a decent level of hopping. Lacks body and real bitterness. Shame.

Sweet, hoppy, bit fruity aroma. Yellow-amber coloured with an off-white lasting head. Taste is malty, sweet, fresh, hoppy and fruity. Hopbitter-sweet finish. Okay brew. Specially when it is a warm day.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottled. Deep amber colour, good white lasting head and good condition. Good sweet fruity hop aromas. Over sweet and cloying maltiness in the mouth with a faintly Oud Bruin sourness. Finish is sweet and nasty.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
[I believe this is the beer I've had even though the label only called it Martin's Pale Ale, the label was different than the one depicted, and the alcohol content was only 5.8% ABV. But as far as I remember it was made by John Martin.] The aroma is sweet with powerful notes of hops. The color is amber and it has a beutiful though collapsing head. The flavor is fantastic; sweet, malty with notes of caramel and ending on a good bitter note. A really lovely beer.
