Who can ignore John Martin’s ale that our ancestors called "the noblest of English Pale Ales". This unique beer of 6% ABV is the fruit of truly exceptional craftsmanship, a unique technique whereby authentic Kent hop-bells are added after brewing.

Bottle 330 ml (5,8% ABV). Nice pour; big fluffy tan head over sparkling golden brown body. Intial aroma is raisins, caramel and herbal hops. Nose ends dry and dusty with metallic scents. Quite sweet malt flavors. Well hopped, with pleasant acidic notes in the background. Medium body. Good balance. Nice beer.

Bottle. Golden amber with a good, fairly dense and longlasting off white head. Medium hoppy aroma with some fruit and grain. Flavour is grassy with malt undertones and a good lasting bitter finish. Enjoyable and delicious.

Bottle at Zuideterras, Antwerp, Belgium. I had this and Loz had Rodenbach unfortunately I hadn’t had an awful lot of this before Loz decided that her beer wasn’t for her and nicked my one. Poured a light brown colour with a decent head fruit, hops and malts dominate the aroma, taste is a little more of the same with some bitter sweetness thrown in for good measure.

Amber-gold with a white head. The whole experience of drinking this beer is gentle, comforting and soothing. The aroma reflects fresh summer fruits: plums and peaches. The taste is sweet, orange, and malty, while the alcohol is caressing and unthreatening. The merest hint of bitterness at the end. No English beer is so anodyne as this Belgian ’English Pale Ale’.

Bottle. 25/05/06. Sunburnt orange body with a frothy white head. Hops (grapefruit bitterness) on a sweet medium body, good lacing, cross between a English, Belgian and American Pale Ale. A refreshing ale after some nice and big Belgians beers.
