3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
December 2006: from BA. Very impressed with this beer, bought in Brussels at a GB supermarket.
I poured it into a ’Hoegaarrden Grand Cru’ glass and it suited.
Lovely full amber, copper/bronze colour with an off-white head which stays through the drink.
A sweet aroma of caramel and toffee apples, the taste is more hoppy, but there is a sweetness to it also, very ’more-ish’ and extremely drinkable.
I ate a good quality Lincolnshire Pork Pie (with green pepper mustard) with this bottle, they complimented each other perfectly.
I shall be getting a shed load of this on my next visit to Belgium.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
This Belgian version of an English Pale Ale has a hoppy and grainy smell. It pours clear brown with a big bubbly head. The complexity that you get in the aroma seems lost on the flavor as it has a hint of caramel on the lip but very little palate.

2.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle by 21.12.12. Nice spicy hoppy nose, orange peel Cascadey with bright but earthy EKG and punchy English ale yeast. Dark orange body with a soapy white head. Soapy sweet taste cleans the palate but doesn’t dry it, fruit is here with light yeast, they drive off any caramel or malt presence. Lightish medium body. This is exactly what I would expect to taste if you told me someone brewed a strongish English ale in Poland.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
On cask at the Alexander Graham Bell for the Wetherspoons beer festival. Pours a golden colour with a decent white head. Aroma of yeast, caramel and grassy hops. Similar flavours with lingering grassy hops again. Moderate carbonation and an oily mouth-feel. Not bad.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Cask at Blue Boar, Billericay. Brewed exclusively for J D Wetherspoon. Pours a pale amber with a tight creamy off-white head. Hints of malt, white grape, mango and pineapple in the aroma. Medium bodied but smooth and a little creamy over the tongue, a dry bitterness is countered by a subtle floral fruitiness with white grapejuice and mango flavours. The bitterness re-emerges in the aftertaste with those dry fruity flavours playing in the background. Overall quite a satisying beer, the floral fruitiness is delightful in it’s delicate nature and a nice counter to the creamy bitterness. No one flavour dominates making a pleasant balance to a beer more usually found in bottled form.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at home in London. Pours clear, vibrant gold with a fluffy, white head. Some sugary, bready malts in the nose. Medium to big sweet flavor, bready, with some sweet fruits, white sugar, fine straw. Medium bodied with average carbonation. Sweet, clean, sugary finish, with basic bready pale malts, mild bitterness, some sweet hay, toasted sugar, maple, floral hops and lightly toasted grass. An OK beer, though not particularly impressive.
