COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Who can ignore John Martinís ale that our ancestors called "the noblest of English Pale Ales". This unique beer of 6% ABV is the fruit of truly exceptional craftsmanship, a unique technique whereby authentic Kent hop-bells are added after brewing.

33 cl bottle, simply called "Martinís Pale Ale", now available in Norway. ABV is 5.8%. Website www.anthonymartin.be Deep golden nearly orange colour. Large head. Aroma of sweet malts, molasses and rotting fruits, hints of spices and leather. Flavour is well hopped, but unfortunately there is an everpresent molasses and dark syrup sweetness in the background, making the beer too cloying to be something Iíll buy again when I have finished my 4 bottles.

Tasted 2007-07-22. Fresh bottle, 33cl. Pours clear, yellow with light head. Notes of yest and hops. Not overwhelming, but nice and fresh. It comes off as a mix between pilsner and pale ale - a bit weak!

Draught at Pub 38 (Malgrate, Lecco). Huge white and lasting head, deep and clear amber colour. Sweeter than expected, both aroma and flavor. Caramel and malty sweetness in the nose, fruity and just hins of hops. The flavor is even sweeter, too much for me, caramel and buttery. Medium body and a spicy but creamy mothfeel.

Bottle. Dark golden - orange, cloudy, very small and fully diminishing head. Moderate, malty and caramel sweet aroma, fruitiness and some hoppyness. Body is medium, malty and sweet flavor, lots of fruitiness, caramel and some hoppyness. Finish is average, malty and sweetish, very fruity with some hoppyness, caramel. Caramel sweetish strong ale- sweetness subdues totally the bitterness.

0,33l bottle. Pours copper dark amber with, clear body with creamy white/beige lacing- Aromas are plums, sweet malts, some berries and grass. Palate is soft, silky smooth, medium bodied. Carbonation is soft and flat but mouthful. Taste is sweet malts, some caramel, and a dry lingering hops taste. Finish is mild, dry to medium bitter. Overall quite balanced ale, little weak on hops and watery in the end but not too sweet.

Plastic aroma, copper colour, slim cream coloured head. Sweet, tangy orange flavour. Bitter, with a mineral texture. Not bad, but it feels stronger than 5.8%.

22nd February 2008. Strong bitter/ale smell belying itís pale ale status. Fairly crisp - malt dominates the slight hoppyness. Lingering dry slightly bitter malt finish. Brings back those misty water colour memories of drinking sub standard ale in the 1970s!!
