GBBF. Cask. Clear dark brown beer, light malt. Trace of dry bubblegum. Finishes dry with a small amount of hop. Okay but pretty dull.

Cask at GBBF 2010. A dark brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of caramel and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt and caramel as well as a light note of metal, leading to a dry and lightly bitter finish.

On gravity at the Tuckers Maltings Beer festival, Newton Abbot 23/04/10. Copper coloured with a slight, off-white head. Bready malt aroma with a touch of sweetness. Flavour had some hedgerow fruit and a touch of caramel, before a pronounced bitter finish. Ok.

Cask (handpump) at the Great British Beer Festival, Day 1, August 2009. Good on the brewery for taking the effort to send over these rare beers for GBBF but I’m not convinced they handled the journey too well. This one was a diacetyl bomb, full stop. And diacetyl in in a light, low ABV bitter is not a good thing in my book. A little better on the palate than on the nose. Some restrained, slightly ashy malt reminiscent of a light mild. A low hop presence reinforced that impression. Didn’t enjoy this too much.

Cask@GBBF2009. Diacetyl. Brown. Ugly. Vague toffee. Not good. Beer needn’t be like this.
