500ml dark bottle. Filtered. Ł3.20 from Bitter Virtue, Southampton. Mary Christmas 4.7%. A golden ale flavoured with rum and spices. It works. Very pleasant and attractive drink. A lot of these flavours can be had from using malt and yeast at the right temperature and in the right proportions, so no kudos to the brewer having to resort to spices and rum, but the end result is quite tasty. Tastes a bit like Saison and a bit like some Belgian beers, though with a little more toffee.

Bottle thanks to allmyvinyl. Appearance - dark honey colour with a nice head. Nose - dry biscuits cloves and honey. Taste - fruit cake, burnt raisins. Light spice and honey. Palate - close to medium bodied with a big tangy texture and a long dry finish. Overall - quite a few things going on. Good.

500ml bottle with jeevan & Ashton McCobb. Pours clear amber, thin white head. Aromas of clove, spice, fruitcake. Taste is more of the same, rum comes through on the taste, vanilla. Spice finish. OK.

Bottle. Beer Central, Sheffield. Clear amber. Film of white head. Spice. Toffee. Cinammon. Heavy on the nutmeg. Taste is dry, and burnt bitter. Soapy palate. Finishes soapy, too. I didn’t think this would be my thing, and I was right. Maybe I should have had it whilst in the festive spirit.

Bottle. Yellow with a small head. Spicy with a trace of toast .Quite unusual with a range of flavours floating around. I usually think that fairly average strength Christmas beers are usually disappointing but this one was not.

500ml bottle from Beer Central, Sheffield - Brass coloured body, thin white head. Nose is slightly ginger, a bit metallic. Taste is dry, uninspiring, but nothing offensive. Ilkley do much better than this.
