santoslhalper (184), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA May 12, 2008 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a cloudy gold/straw color with a thin, soapy white head. The smell is very smoky, with a lemon/lactic tart background, and a hint of bread. Crisp, clean taste. Starts slightly lemony, followed by a big wallop of smokiness, and ends clean, dry, and slight acidic. This beer, it seems to me, is the love child between a Rauchbier and a Berleiner Weissbier. Well done Bill and Scott! It’s great to see something like this in the area. I thoroughly enjoyed the chance to try it and I hope I’ll be down to have so more. I think it’s cool that it’s only 3%. For lightweights like me, I can have a few and not be a total ass. Refreshing, intriguing, interesting, drinkable, and delicious.
jjpm74 (3087), Stratford, CT 06614, Connecticut, USA Aug 28, 2008 Pours a hazy yellow with a thin white head. Aroma keeps switching off between a nice lactic tartness, some oak, and some smoky hints. Tastes minerally with some nice tartness. Some smoky hints emerge as the beer warms. Earthy grassy finish. This reminds me of a cross between koduolo and gose. Good stuff! roder_60 (872), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 17, 2008 Pours an extremely hazy light pale yellow color with slight fizzy white head. Aroma is very very grassy with a bit of citrus. Flavor is grassy like a dortmunder, tart but not fruity. Dry and a bit bitter. Slight smokiness to it. Overall, interesting. Linus_Stick (1553), Moon Township, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 13, 2008 Updated: Jun 15, 2008Another great by East End. This is the ultimate lawnmower beer. Nice floral aroma with light malt and yeast in the background. Pour was a nice medium gold with a 2 finger white head. Taste was very drinkable and refreshing. Light malt and smoke in the front that gives way to a lactic sourness in the aftertaste. As I had more of this the smoke gets stronger. A definate plus! Little carbonation, but the flavor stands on its own. Some yeast and lemon come out as it warms. Great beer! mulletman69 (10), USA Jun 5, 2008 orgasmic... sour, with a smokey finish... beautiful beer... and one of only two breweries in the world to brew a beer of this style scott is the man Naka (423), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 1, 2008 A very interesting brew. Sampled at Pints for Pets. Pours a hazy peach flesh color with a small foamy head. Aroma is a little bit of spicy fruit. A sweet pruny caramel nose. Has a sweet yet smoky flavor. Very sour with a light bitter bite at the finish. Complex with a lot of bready characteristic. Medium body with a light carbonation.
