kramer (1875), sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA May 7, 2008 On tap @ Duncansville. Reddish amber pour with a thin creamy head. Sweet malt nose with a very light touch of hops. The flavor is smilar, not a whole lot of depth . Light to medium bodied , a little sticky. Moderate fizzy carbonation. Overall, not especially inspiring but it was drinkable.
Nate (2239), Indiana, Pennsylvania, USA May 8, 2008 From growler. Not sure if I’m drinking what others had here ... Mild hoppy aroma. Light caramal, bit of oak and brown sugar. Nice nose, fairly subtle overall with a bit of alcohol and fruity ester. Coppery amber clear with a foamy off-white lightly lacing head. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Starts fairly dry with nutty grainy bitterness. Light caramel and brown sugar. Medium to heavy bitter finish. Light nutty bitter after. Nice balance of caramel and hoppy bitterness. Beerman6686 (724), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 1, 2008 On tap in Allison Park. Poured a clear ruby red color. Aroma if hops, alcohol and faint malt. Flavor is strangely bitter, but not hoppy bitter, like infected bitter with a stringent alcohol flavor which is weird for only being 6%. Not very good at all. cheapdark (1559), Monacatootha, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 14, 2008 On tap at the Marzoni’s in Allison Park near Pittsburgh. Big glass for $2.75. Pour is rolling at first, giving the appearance of the pour of some nitro stouts. That however, settles to a clear lighter iced tea color with an interesting head that has various size bubbles, everything from tiny to large. The aroma is quite yeasty. Mind you, I’ve smelled yeasty before but this stuff is very yeasty, actually smells like the cake yeast my mom used to use for homemade bread. On the taste buds it’s quite interesting. Malty with a little alky showing thru. Not as alky as the 6+% would indicate, but its there peeking it’s little english bald head up above the flavors. Very light and smooth carbonation that can barely be detected. On the finish; there is a lasting linger of medium medicinal bitterness that hangs around like a visitor thats worn out it’s his welcome. A little too bitter on the finish for this lager lover but an excellent brew to the style none the less.
