Perfectly cocoa aroma, nice barley, chalk, peanut. Love it. Nice carbonic flavor, marshmallow, a smidgen of sweet lactose. Charcoal. Very dry. Excellent traditional stout.

On tap at Marzonis in Allison Park. Not a very good dry stout at all. Pour was the best thing about it. A dark black with a 2 finger tan head. I saw that and thought, "Wow, this will be good".Nope. Aroma was decent. Coffeee and roasted malt. Taste was very weak. Carbonation was nil. Itís like this beer changed to water mid swallow. There was a very bitter roasted malt/hop aftertaste which helped. All in all not good.

Draught at the brewpub. Pours black with ruby edges and an eternal tan head that leaves excellent lacing. The aroma is very roasty with lots of fresh coffee notes, some chocolate, and even a very vague vanilla-y bourbon hint. The flavor is dark caramel and coffee at first, then gets nutty in the middle and leads to a sweet finish. Silky mouthfeel.

Draft at Allison Park. Pours black with a quickly dissipating head. Faint aroma of dark roasted malts. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Flavor of dark roasted malts, molasses, and old coffee. Finish is dry, slightly thin, with a small hint of tangyness. Rather simple, but not offensive by any means. The assistant brewer was screwing around and filtered some through some coffee grounds, turning it into a fresh breakfast stout. It brought some over for me to dry and it was rather interesting.

tap @ Marzoniís - arouma is roasty, chocolate, espresso. Body is a bit disappointingly thin. Dark and malty with some coffee bitter. Smooth and tasty.

Sampler at the Allison Park location, 02.03.08 (Super Bowl Sunday). Tar, tan head. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, pine, caramel, anise. Flavor is the same with smoke and roasted nuts. Nice creamy, dry finish. Thus far, my favorite Marzoniís beer.

I felt that this was the best of the marzonis brews I tried BY FAR. Pours a jet black color with a large amount of froathy browth head that stays. Aroma is roasted coffee and cream. Flavor and mouthfeel are very very creamy and smooth. Dry roasty flavor, slight coffee taste - like a slightly more bitter guiness.

Sample in Altoona. Dark black color. Malt nose. Malt and chocolate and well hopped, but subtle. I like it. Bodyís not really there, but not a big deal.

Poured from a bottle. Medium brown color, small tan head head. Medium roasted malt aroma. Medium body with a nice malt flavor mild finish.

Sampled at beer night at the Coney. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, and butterscotch. It is a complete black hole by the looks. THe flavor is creamy coffee caramel latte with a little molasses and some fruity characteristics. A decent thick body. Nothing too over the top but really tasty.
