Draught, at Mash, Great Portland St, Oxford Circus, London.
Pale golden body, with a thin white head. First aroma to hit you, and pretty quickly at that, is banana. This transfers through into your first flavour then quickly the bitterness takes hold. Tasks very similar to Toohey’s New, not special at all. To be fare its got just a little bit more fineness then Toohey’s New but still its not a rap for this beer.

On tap (keg) at Mash, London, October 2005. I’d been to mash before I was involved in RateBeer, but had not made the effort to return to rate them. That says something about my impression of the beers in the past and nothing on this visit gave me cause to change my mind. Although the name gives no clue what style of beer this is, its clearly a lager, and a pretty insipid one at that. Slight grassy aroma, a bit of bready malt on the palate and that’s about it. Minimalist by name and minimalist by nature.

Aug, 2005. Mash Bar, Oxford Circus. Starts relatively crisp and clean. Then some diacetyl emerges - pulling into a mildly hopped finish. Mostly bland - the flavour is just a bit too greasy caramel.

Served at Mash. Brewed at Mash. (Not the bottled product, which sounds quite decent, and appears to be made elswhere by someone who knows how to brew. Thin and bland. Flavours of toffee and vanilla. Ice cream wafer. Mostly sad and insignicicant. Doesn’t taste fresh.

A golden hue with a small white head. Little aromas of malts, straw and hay. Similar flavor that lacked any real depth.
