Pours a dark cloudy red colour with little head. Aroma is sweet malt and caramel with notes of peat and smoke. Taste is also sweet malt with quite a bit of smoke with some caramel. Dry nutty finish. Not sure what to make of this one, not a big fan of the flavours but it’s certainly interesting.

Got this bottle off the top shelf in a cooler right behind the florescent light of the usa supermercado on Gral Flores St. It was the only bottle of its flavor. Figured it’d be horribly light struck. Upon opening, surprise! no skunk, instead lots of nice hope aroma and a bit of maybe infectoin. Color is very hazy amber brown or v versa. Flavor was a a bi t tart, only a hint of sweetness. There is some hop there, but it’s been beat back. Seems a tad watery and feels of forced carbonation. Proly woulda been worse, but for the alcohol. Be nice to try one under better circumstances. Guess the finish is irrelevant.

UPDATED: JAN 10, 2009 Tasted in Shannon Pub - Montevideo (Uruguay)
Appearance: cloudy reddish to mahogany color. Medium head, White to ivory color and good retention.
Aroma: to caramel and semi-toast malts, presence of the yeasts, slight smoke tones and floral hoppy.
Flavor: start sweet with malty and candy notes. Continues with the yeast and light coffee hints, toffee and candied-peanut. Final with floral hoppy and malty-candy aftertaste.
Palate: medium body, semi-oily texture and low carbonation.
Remark: basic but acceptable version of the style, sweetness some balanced for a nice floral hoppiness.
