Bottle with a swing-top. Not as complex as most of the old ales, but definitely worth a try if you visiting Italy. Much better than most of local lagers anyway.

750 ml bottle served in a pint glass. Dark gold, slightly hazy, with a nice, creamy and very persistent white head. Good lacing. Not the most prominent aroma but quite nice, fruity, moderatel hoppy, slightly toasted and malty, with notes of peach, marzipan, melon, almost tropical. Quite astringent bitterness upfront, solid malty backbone, light fruity component, almost nutty, some notes of wood and wet tea leaves. Moderately sweet aftertaste. Too bad it’s totaly flat, becuase the taste isn’t that bad. Pretty much zero carbonation, light to medium body, creamy texture. Flawed but drinkable.

Bottle 0,75L. Bought in Italy, in Conad supermarket as I Cavalieri Birra Doppio Malto Bionda non filtrata. Cloudy, yellow colour with big, thick, creamy, long lasting, white head. Although there is double malt in the name, there is very hoppy aroma of pine, resin, orange, lemon and herbs. Taste starts light sweet with barley malts and yeasts mouthfeel, than finish moderate bitter. Full body, dry texture and lively carbonation.

Bottle @ home. Marchiata "i cavalieri doppio malto". Schiuma bianca abbastanza fine, abbastanza persistente. Colore giallo dorato riflessi ambrati, velata, quasi opalescente a fine bottiglia. Gusto abbastanza intenso. Dolce abboccato, lievemente acido da agrumi/citrico, poco amaro da luppolo. Abbastanza corposa, abbastanza calda e rotonda. equilibrata, abbastanza armonica.

Bottle, 750 ml, bought in Italy as iCavalieri Birra Doppio Malto bionda non filtrata. Nice looking bottle, nice label too and interesting combintion of a crown cap and a swing top. Poured into a snifter at home. ABV 7.5% Pours a beer with an intense golden yellow colour, lightly hazy, with a couple of bubbles in the glass rising to the top every now and then. Two fingers of a snow white head, thick and creamy, with good retention, leaving heavy lacing around the glass as it collapses. Aroma is fruity, lightly hoppy, clean malts, hints of alcohol coming from the back, maybe a bit of honey now that it’s mentioned. Nice hoppy taste, nothing extreme but on the contrary very easy drinking, with fruity notes again traceable, lots of malts and some alcohol, warming me up. Mild bitterness on the aftertaste. Medium thin body, good carbonation, dry enough on the palate.
