3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 marcus (5104) - Sacramento, California, USA - OCT 6, 2009
This hazy golden ale poured with a foamy white head and a fruity aroma. However, the flavor is anything but fruity. It’s very herbal and slightly sour with a little hop bitterness. I happen to like mate, so this one is very drinkable for me but, as a beer, it leaves much to be desired.

Clear golden pour, with small white head. Earthy hops, citrus, a bit sourness and herbal flavor, vegetable, and metallic. Not very good.
2.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 walleye (1045) - Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA - SEP 4, 2009
Found this at Famous Market in white lake Mi.poured a cloudy dark golden with no head. aroma orange, floral, sugar, hops, some sourness. flavor, hard to describe this, I do not think I have anything that tasted like this. got some citrus and alcohol and did get olives which I do not like and do not eat them so maybe that is why I can not get anything else
2.3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 StefanSD (1804) - Lakeside, California, USA - AUG 18, 2009
650 ml bottle from Bevmo. Pours a translucent copper color with a medium white head that has fair retention and some lacing. The aroma is moderate in strength with some herbs, sour beans and something metallic-vegetable. Not good. The flavor is kinda weird with a vegetable quality, some mildly biter hops and the occasional hint of biscuit. The palate is where this really falls apart. it is thin and watery. The finish is short, dry and metallic. Clearly not my favorite, but why, oh why, does every organic ale have to suck.
2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Taverner (1044) - San Ramon, California, USA - JUN 26, 2009
The aroma is floral, but also has a rancid note in there that throws it. This rancidity is not in the nose, however. I pick up on the olive notes described in previous ratings. Finishes dry. This does not work - its not really an IPA and its not really an herb beer. Just sour mash.
2.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20 DYCSoccer17 (3041) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 26, 2009
22 ounce bottle purchased at the Davis Food Co-Op. Aroma is very herbal, floral, with some ethanol properties present. There is almost a honey-like presence, too. Transparent dark golden body present with a small off-white head. Not much in the way of lacing. Very tart, astringent, floral, herbal spiciness is present to start. Tastes like pimento olives and olive juice. This is followed by some metallic hop flavors. Finishes pretty dry. Unenjoyable. Bad concept.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 bb (5974) - Alamo, California, USA - JUN 24, 2009
Bottle. Hazy amber beer with a low off-white head. Citrus and floral hop aroma with a bit of tea characteristics. Floral/citrus/teas flavor. Medium bofy. OK bitterness. Tea, spice, floral, citrus lingers with more and more tea and herbal qualities. I liked the test batch better.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 bhensonb (9093) - Woodland, California, USA - JUN 17, 2009
Bomber from the Coop in Davis, CA. Slightly hazy amber color with a large off-white head. Nice aromas of citrus and floral hop. Medium body with near creamy carbonation. The fruity/floral hop is great, and the caramel is almost overcome by what seems to be a tea/herb flavor. Rather lush at first, finishing towards astringent. Hop is great, might like the "tea" dialed down a bit. Still bitter is good.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Snojerk321 (2970) - San Diego, California, USA - JUN 15, 2009
22oz bottle from BevMo Mission Valley. Pours a lightly hazed deep golden color with a fluffy off white head that left light lacing. Nose of citrus and herbal hops with a weird kind off tree root quality. Flavor was much like the aroma of this beer. Decent overall.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Cirrhosis (1085) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUN 11, 2009
"Not exactly sure what Yerba mate is but makes beer taste like tree sap. Light copper body with a thin film of foam on top that lasted three seconds. Aroma is combination of poplar branches, grass, and wild rose hips boiled together (this is something I make once a year and it has a very distinctive smell) I think ginger is also in here. Flavor is lacking and when I say lacking I mean there is no flavor. Ok I let the beer warm up to room temp and now some flavor is coming through. Poplar sap, grass, lemon, a slight hop bite, clean tasting with no lingering after taste. Very unique brew never had anything remotely like it before, it was a good one to try but I don’t see myself ever wanting to stock this in my fridge."
