3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Clear golden sort of body, actually holds a bit of a head for a bit...possibly better than alot of beers!
Aroma is something different than the normal; brown sugar, bruised apple/acedaldahyde, Pink Lady apple "raspberryness", faint sort of oxidised dried apicot/fruit character.
Body is quite full, carbonation somewhat restrained for a cider, bit of slickness across the palate.
Cooked apple on the body, faint bit of sweetness with notes of brown sugar and dried fruit. It’s got a bit of funk about it with subtle acetic acid bite and subtle hay/barnyard. Finish ends dry, note of bitterness, acid biased balance.
Great to see a commercial brewery stepping out and having a crack of a more funky/Old World-style cider. Plenty of flavour, and a touch of funk - makes me wonder how it would age!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
345ml bottle. This has a lot more colour and foam than most other ciders that I have had and it actually doesn’t look to bad. Reasonable amber colour with some white foam that settles. Sweet aroma of green apples. Very sweet flavour and not as thin in the mouth as some ciders.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Highly charged soda-like carbonation erupts to the surface to feed a layer of white that builds to a dense line of cream on the meniscus. The body a light amber. Course, oaken wood and nutty spices on the nose, peppery with apple core and peel, straw hay and strong wafts of horse hair, interesting. Tart, dry, acidic, lots of Granny smith, underripe apple pulp tones come through. A little hairy in the swallow, creamy light mouthfeel, quite spritzy on the entry. Drops off crisp, very short, just a touch of sweetness there to give it a tang. Notes of bitter apple peel in there too. Clean otherwise, straightforward but surprisingly drinkable and very refreshing. Pleasant! (34,5cL, BB15/06/13, Thirsty Camel, Butler)
