On tap at The Criterion Hotel. Pale golden and very cloudy. Moderate aroma with some citrus coming through. Light and easy drinking beer, this would be a very good session beer.

Tap at 2013 Canberra Beer Festival. Cloudy amber, quite strong malt profile, not very bitter at all. Drinkable, inoffensive, but nothing special.

Tried this twice on tap now and to me its a very poor beer. Harsh bitterness, very rough flavour. My impression was an overhopped, unfiltered Carlton Draught. It was only half drunk on both occasions.

Tap, Flinders Pub. Hazy very pale gold with a lasting white head. Modest aroma with lemon, oranges, hay. Light bodied, high carbonation. Tastes of light grain, citrus and a little pepper. Crisp finish with moderate bitterness. Won’t scare off the average punter. Hits the spot. Good and guzzleable.

(Tap) Cloudy straw colour with good white head. Subtle aroma - lemon with floral hints. Medium bodied with excellent mouth-filling carbonation. Refreshing crisp combination of citrus and hoppy bitterness. Leaves nice otter aftertaste. Overall, nice and refreshing.

On tap at the Provincial Geraldton, served with moderate head, a cloudy light malt colour with a hint of green. I can see why they named it. Almost no aroma just a hint of chamomile. Tastes of lemon and pinapple fruit flavours on top of a light malt base. Softly finishes with also light and dry bitterness. A nice drinkable beer but not one you would boast about.

On Tap- listed as a "Cloudy Australian Ale". Served a hazy light golden color with a fairly small head with bits of lacing. Aroma of citrus, bit of malt sweetness and some herbs in the background. Taste of citrus some malt sweetness and some grain. Nice bitterness and a clean finish. Fairly medium body, crisp and refreshing. Decent beer although it reminds me more of a Golden Ale.

On tap at Irish Club. Marketed as ’cloudy Australian ale’, it came in a branded pint glass - nice touch. Cloudy gold body was topped with a one finger white head. Citrus aromas dominated the nose. Taste showed lots of fruit flavours, with lemon, apple and a little pine over the top of some fairly solid grain. Finished quite dry. Overall, a pretty good APA, one I’d come back to again.

ALLOVATE (2101) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - JUL 18, 2012
Draught @ Kingsway Hotel, Madeley.
Misty, yellow gold with a lasting, soppy and tight white lather. There is a vinous, white wine twang to the otherwise fruity and citric nose. A little grass comes through, a little sunny wheat and chamomile too. Vinous and wheat-like in the mouth. Light in body with high effervescence leading to a crisp edge on the swallow. Hairy and rough, grassy and moderately bitter late, not much linger. Has an almost wild-yeast roughness to it reminiscent of hessian (dud sample? foreign bodies? dodgy tap-lines!?), but it works along with the lowly gritty and sandy malt tones. Good lot of citrus builds as it warms, and it does need a bit of warmth. Overall a quaffable brew even if this sample had a bit of funk going on. More a Golden ale than APA in my opinion.

UPDATED: MAY 27, 2012 On tap at The Carlton on Bourke St. Pours a very light golden color. Small one finger head. No lacing. Nose is floral with some orange. Taste is orange peel, a herbal component on the mid palate and a nice balancing bitterness on the finish. Nice creamy mouthfeel. However, the beer lacks body and the finish is reasonably short. Not bad, but not amazing either.
