UPDATED: JUL 3, 2004 excellent australian wheat beer, i'd rate it probably just below hoegaarden white, great thirst quencher on a summer day, i could easily kill a 6pack on a hot day

Compared to a megalager this is quite good, compared to a Hefeweizen it sucks. Often shows up in pubs that have nothing but VB/Draught so often becomes my beer of choice.
Nice wheaty aroma but no yeast character (lager yeast I presume). Pretty light on for flavour, bit of citrusy bitterness at the end. Refreshing and drinkable.

Its a good beer, just not in my favorite taste. Its served with a wedge of lemon in the glass which pushes the citris taste over the edge. Not a bad wheet beer, but I would suggest it without the extra lemon.

Very spicey on the palate which is good. It seems to me that all wheat beers have a distinctive flavour and thids is no exception. Tastes dry and smooth early but with a spicey sharp hoppy palate. Smells like crap unfortunately but doesnt taste like it smells. Rich enough but could almost be sickly by the end or a 6-er. Not bad.

Good appearance and nice strong flavour, yet for some reason its quite difficult to drink more than one or two. Just doesn't sit right.

I just dont see the appeal for this beer, i found it thin and watery (in the stub). On the otherhand the citrus flavours overpowered it and make me think of cider. not pleasant. cheers

I really, really enjoy this beer whether it's in summer or the cooler months. The thing I like about it is you can taste it right from when it hits your tongue to long after it slides down your throat.

This tastes much better from the tap than the bottle but the real original was even better than both. Some taste of banana and a tart finish.

For those who don't know a Redback is an Australian spider with a, er, red back. It is poisonous and its favourite habitat is under the toilet seat in country outhouses. What does that have to do with a German style wheat beer? Well, it er, um, has, you know, I mean.......I don't bloody know. It has a thin head over a light body, nose is clearly estery with banana but with a metallic note. It is a bit too effervescent for my taste and the flavour, while typical of a German wheat is understated. A funnel web would have more bite.
