donfardz64 (72), Wellington, New Zealand May 28, 2008 Updated: Jul 4, 2008Pours almost pitch black with a white disappearing head. Aromas of burnt malt. Slight bittersweetness, coffee, burnt toast, some caramel. Quite an easy dark ale, good one to start out on but nothing spectacular. Papsoe (9999), Frederiksberg, Denmark Feb 19, 2008 (On tap) Clear, brown with an orange hue and a small, off-white head. Light aroma of burned malt and a wee buttery whiff. Light and a little watery with only a touch of burned malts. The finish is dry with a wee malt astrigency. I believe this is the thinnest NZ Dark Ale ever. 190208 yalnikim (647), Wellington, New Zealand Jul 16, 2007 Tasted 27/10/2007. 5oz tasted from the brewery bar.
Near black. Chocolate malt, toast, vinyl and caramel on the nose. Thin, watery and mild in the mouth. Nice ashy note in ths finish but it doesn’t have the guts to fully carry it off. bozoNZ (361), Christchurch, New Zealand Jun 20, 2007 330ml bottle. Dark almost black with copper hues. Toasty malt aromas when it warms. Nice enough up front - toast char malts but fades and thins too quickly.
