Matsons Silver Fern

Bottle at brewery bar. Pours golden, almost no head wanted to form and dissapeared almost instantly. Tinge of malt in the aroma. Harsh unpleasant bitterness to begin, some hop, not much. Harshness lingers for quite some time. A yeasty film coats the mouth making for an unpleasant experience.

(Bottle 33 cl) Pours a clear, amber golden with a small, rough, white head. Sweetish malty nose with some overripe fruit. Medium-bodied with lightly sweet malts - perhaps a touch of caramel. Short, dry finish. So far definitely the best Matsons - without it really saing much... 190208

Tasted 16/09/2007. 330ml bottle from BrewNZ. Brilliant pale gold, tight white head. Sweet honey-like nose with a faint whiff of grain. Medium sweetness in the mouth, with a refreshing carbonic zip but very little hop character. Very well made but premiumly boring and uneventful.
