To be fair, this is a pretty difficult beer to rate and on top of that, itís the type of beer which isnít going to warrant a fantastic score anyway. It is what it is. Marketed well for chilli heads. Itís pretty much really peppery chilli in beer form. I am not a chilli fan and canít really see how people can get through a 6 pack of these but apparently they can. Kudos to them

BB 29/02/14. Poured a clear pale gold colour with no head and no lacing. Low carbonation with medium bubbles. Aroma with a hint of chilli. Taste of chilli heat from start to finish; like a chilli cordial. Very light body. A real chilli after taste dominates everything? Great if you like chilli.

I am surprised at how much they can stuff a beer up! In fact I donít know if I can safely call it a beer, maybe carbonated crappy chili sauce! Look I love chili, it is a versatile cooking ingredient and fresh chili on many meals can turn it from meh to yum, but what Matsoís seem to have done is leave all the flavor that make a chili more then just heat on the brewery floor and take the heat, add some black pepper and add it to some unidentified* amber coloured liquid, bottle and carbonate it before passing it on to the unsuspecting suckers that they like to call customers! OK admittedly it does warn you on the label but seriously?

Pours clear pale gold colour with no head. Hardly any aroma. Very thin mouthfeel. Couldnít pick out any flavours until the chilli spiciness destroyed everything in its path, including my tastebuds. If thereís any redeeming factor to this íbeerí, Iím now unable to taste it.

As a beer it is quite awful, almost to the point of undrinkable it is that spicy.
If you arenít a fan of HOT chilli this beer will leave you with a bad aftertaste and a wish that you bought something else.
HOWEVER It makes the best beer battered fish around!!!

Interesting beer. Is what it says it is and no more. Appearance is really disappointing. Looks like a almost flat yellow beverage, little head or carbonation. Aroma has just a hint of chilli. Taste is a really good, full on chilli hit. Fair bit of burn in the chilli! interesting beer but not the tastiest beer. Would be really good blended with the mango beer!

Pours very pale with a tiny white head, tastes like Satanís toilet water. I like chilli and tried really hard to like it but I just canít.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle from Dan Murphyís. Opaque, pale golden, very little head, quickly gone. Nothing much in the aroma except for a hint of the chili to come. All I got was chili heat and some underlying acidity, spritzy carbonation. Tasted just like fizzy chilli water, so if thatís what they were going for, itís a winner! For me, not a winner.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Produces up nothing like the promotional photo. Previously a 4.6% ABV ale but now Iím unsure whether the recipe has changed or just the ABV. Mildly hazy straw yellow with no head and light on in carbonation. Very clean malt and wheat, and twiggy wood presence on the nose with just a smidgeon of acidity but no warning at all of the fire it brings to the palate. So much burn, I was sweating from the first sip and struggling after that. The body is notably light and it is soft in feel with what appears to be a delicate wheat and malt backbone but with the afterburn it was hard to tell. I feel like nachoís all of a sudden, and maybe some sliced cucumber to dull the spice. The flavour of the chilli is overlooked so it is just acid in its rawest form. No malt in the length. Clean. Not bad, but not at all sessionable unless you fancy stoking the fire with the liquid that is supposed to extinguish it!! (33cL, BB 03/04/14, Cellarbrations, Carlisle)
