0.9 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 GeneralGao (3515) - Iowa City, Iowa, USA - MAR 5, 2006
12 oz bottle at The Federal in Durham, NC. Clear pale golden color without any head or lace. Smells strange...like lemon squeezed into a glass of water. Tastes suprisingly similar...a little lemony and there is a metallic aftertaste. Crisp and exhuberantly carbonated. Poor effort.

Utica club leaves something for the tongue to remember. A brewery with history and swagger. I love it.

12 oz. can. Pours a light yellow with a fizzy white head. Very, very light aroma. Not much flavor to speak of. Does anyone remember the days when F.X. Matt brewed "Maximus Super"?!!

No head, yellow, decent floral aroma. No foul tastes , points for that, but pretty darn light and inoffensive.
1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20 wilkie (1209) - Raleigh, North Carolina, USA - OCT 9, 2005
Bottle. Stale aroma, weak malt smell, no hops. Pale, golden with small head. Flavor is weak, watery, and has little of what the label calls "pilsner". Crappy beer. I am not sure it is worse than a buttwiper.

UPDATED: DEC 13, 2008 [bottle - 12 oz] Clear gold pour with a foamy head. Very bitter and sour aroma with metallic hints. The flavor is sweet at the beginning and then metallic and dry. Very unpleasant. It gets extra points however for being a historically significant beer.

Not so great. The Matt Brewing Co makes excellent beer. This throw back to pre prohibition days is not an example of their talent.

Bought a twelve pack in Binghamton, NY for under five bucks. Piss water appearance with short foam, and few bubbles. I’ll give it extra points for being a classic beer resurrected, but its "absolutely chemical tasting swill".
