Matt Utica Club Pilsener Lager Beer

Chris always talks about the good old days of Shulz and Duli (sp?), so when I found this at a beverage store near the beach in North Carolina, I just had to get some to share wth him. It’s basically a light lager with not too much of an adjunct presence, well carbonated, a very little bit of hop dryness at the end.

Great beer., great taste not bloating I wish I could find it in northern VA.

Can. Grassy, sour skunked yeast in the nose. Pretty darn sour nose. Transparent apple juice color with a small quickly dissipating false white head. Start is kind of sweet turning sour and metallic to finish. A strange bitterness lingers....Pretty rough stuff...

UPDATED: FEB 16, 2008 A blond pur with typical carbonated head and lace. A slightly sweet aroma that brings back memories of past days in upstate NY and SU. Not bad for a mass produced beer. The new version of this beer is rather smooth and creamy and the "headache in every beer" is gone!

A pale lager with a little hoppy taste and a quicky diminshing head also a little flat tasting. I hope that other beers from New York arent influenced by this brew.

UPDATED: JUN 3, 2005 I like Utica Club. Could be genetic because my father and grandmother grew up drinking it. Most people I know seem to think it’s pretty bad. I find it quite tasty.

The aromawas really the high point with hints of malt and a hoppy presence. Taste was definitely downhill from the aroma - a bland, sweet, watered-down, malt liquor flavor. I can’t say this was a really bad beer - it just lacked any real distinction or quality.

I enjoy this beer quite a bit. My partiality to this beer could be because that i’m a Utican myself or it could be the delectable taste for such a low price.
