Some great ideas! Black with almost no head, good body but slightly under carbonated. Roasted malt aroma with large notes of bitter chocolate, coco powder and small hints of nondescript spice. Roasted malt backbone, but lacking charred and bitter roasted notes. Some of the best chocolate flavours I’ve experienced, great depth to the bitter dark chocolate, however much like the aroma the spices are very much recessed, almost to the point of being absent.

Opaque black brown beer, good tan head. Airy palate, semi dry with fine carbonation. Soft dark malt, mildly tangy with mellow roast and smoke. Dry finish with an earthy malt aftertaste. A bit dull and a disappointment!

Can from ales by mail
Ruby tinged super dark brown with lacing of tan head. Chocolate, cranberry and cardamom on the nose. Medium bodied, spiky carbonation, initially chili spices, then head berries and lip tingling heat in the finish. Reminds of Mexican hot chocolate. Spice builds. Really enjoyable but a bit thin perhaps.

Can: Very intensive dark chocolate and cacao aroma with light notes of chilies. Black color and a quickly diminishing brown head. Flavor is malty, roasty, light sweet with a following, very intensive cacao and hocolate flavor. Light spicy with decent sharpness of the chilies. Finish is very roasty but not to bitter with notes of cacao powder and chilies. Very tasty and harmonic.

Taster at Whole Lotta Brews Going On at Whole Foods in Folsom. Aroma and flavor has a good amount of bittersweet chocolate and very light chili. Palate has great carbonation and overall mouthfeel. Nice beer.

Pours like syrup. Dark dark brown with a thick brown head. Smells like molasses with some chocolate. Delicious dark roasted chocolate. Has a spiciness similar to Mexican hot chocolate. Fairly thick creamy palate and heavy bodied.

Can. Nice muddy pour, deep and dark, with a thick tan head of foam. The aroma is also compelling, hinting at some spice and roast. This drinks with a nice character, rich and thick, but not overwhelmingly so. The base is definitely baking chocolate, but the peppers give it a nice little earthy swirl, too. Good stuff. Can from Beverages4less, San Diego. Thanks Freddy! Black pour, tan head. Aroma is of roasted malts, quite spicy, some chocolate, tobacco and slightly peppery. Flavor is bitter roasted, smooth and spicy. A hint of afterburning chilies, but very subtle. Solid stout, but less exciting that the description on the can made me think it would be.
