3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: OCT 30, 2013 Almost black with a light brown head. Aroma of smoked chili peppers, anise, chocolate, and funky fruity yeast notes. Taste is woody with a little chocolate and full of chili pepper flavor without really being spicy. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated, and a touch dry. Everything about this is kind of mild, but there’s really no other complaint.

Chocolatey with a hint of cinnamon but I get no hint of chipotle. What’s with all these beers I’ve had lately promising assorted chilies but showing little or no sign of them? Tasty but not worth the price of admission.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Can, Cave, Glasgow. Poured a dark brown colour with with a medium tan head. Nose was chocolate, roast, cinnamon. Roasted malts, dark fruit, more choc, and spices present in the flavour. Quite lively carbonation. A little on the thin side for a stout. Drinkable and not without some character but ultimately a bit underwhelming.

12 oz can from "Lifesource" Salem.
Wonderful looking beer poured into my PBR goblet!. Black as night with a thick tan head creamy goodness.
Cocoa,burnt malts and caramel nose..pleasing.
Taste is semi dark chocolate, slightly smokey, roasted nuts and oats and a faint hot pepper..excellent stuff.
Great palate..keeps my taste buds tingling and guessing!
I really liked this one.
I have had only 2 beers from this brewer and loved them both. Must try more.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A truly unique and exceptionally fine tasting Stout from Maui Brew Co. It’s a Belgian Stout inspired by ancient Mayan culture. That means there is chocolate and spices added. An interesting combination from a Hawaiian brewery.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Had this once sometime last year...canned. Hint of chocolate on an otherwise sweet roasted nose. Flavors range from burnt coffee to dark chocolate to pepper to hints of spicy hops on the finish. Pretty good stuff.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: pours dark brown with a tan ring around the edges.
Aroma: Strong roast, dark chocolate. A little fresh wood and herbal hops.
Taste: Dark roast, black coffee mild herbal hops. Slight tartness in the finish.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied ,lively carbonation.
Overall: I am sad I didn’t pick up any of the chocolate, chilies and spices. For me, the roasted dark malt conquered my palate. I’m guessing they were subtle when fresh, and I didn’t crack this baby until March.

Can in the Head of Steam, Durham. Black body with fading tan head. Huge chocolate coffee aroma. Vary dry and bitter with lots of coffee and dark chocolate and a burnt toast finish. Nice but lacking something.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark brown almost black color with tan head. Malt on the nose, a little cocoa but not much; follows onto the palate. Finishes with just a little heat from the chiles. Not their best offering.
