3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Chocolatey with a hint of cinnamon but I get no hint of chipotle. Whatís with all these beers Iíve had lately promising assorted chilies but showing little or no sign of them? Tasty but not worth the price of admission.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Appearance: pours dark brown with a tan ring around the edges.
Aroma: Strong roast, dark chocolate. A little fresh wood and herbal hops.
Taste: Dark roast, black coffee mild herbal hops. Slight tartness in the finish.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied ,lively carbonation.
Overall: I am sad I didnít pick up any of the chocolate, chilies and spices. For me, the roasted dark malt conquered my palate. Iím guessing they were subtle when fresh, and I didnít crack this baby until March.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
From notes, consumed on 4/25/13. Can poured into a snifter. Pours black with a finger and a half of tan head. Aromas of clove, chocolate, ginger, cinnamon. Tasting notes of dark chocolate, roast, coffee, subtle chipotle and spices. Medium body with a semi-dry finish. Was expecting this to be a bit better but still solid.

Had this once sometime last year...canned. Hint of chocolate on an otherwise sweet roasted nose. Flavors range from burnt coffee to dark chocolate to pepper to hints of spicy hops on the finish. Pretty good stuff.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A truly unique and exceptionally fine tasting Stout from Maui Brew Co. Itís a Belgian Stout inspired by ancient Mayan culture. That means there is chocolate and spices added. An interesting combination from a Hawaiian brewery.

Can from Bier Huis, Ossett. Not sure how a 7% beer brewed with chocolate and spices (which spices?) can end up so thin. Everything is in the aroma.
