COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sure.. the scientists have published essays, the philosophers poems, the naysayers flyers.. but here at the center of the Maui Brewing micro-verse, we are publishing the ultimate in doomsday aloha Ė this yearís last canned seasonal, Aloha Bíakítun! The word aloha conveys both greeting and goodbye in the Hawaiian language and Bíakítun refers to the 3000+year cycle of the Mayan Calendar which is ending. This apocalyptic Belgian-style stout is brewed with Hawaiian chocolate, locally-grown chipotle chilies and cinnamon spice.

Can. Head is initially average sized, frothy, brown, mostly diminishing. Body is black. Aroma is moderately malty (chocolate / cocoa powder, caramel, roasted grain/coffee), with notes of vanilla, smoke/char/ash, celery. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively/fizzy carbonation, lightly alcoholic. A bit clumsy and cluttered, but ok. The spicing is fairly mild; this is a stout/porter first and foremost, thankfully...was worried this was going to be overly vegetal or cinnamon-like.

Draft at sb. Pours black with a loose creamy dark tan head. Mild sweet nose, mostly sweet milk chocolate. Creamy medium body with soft carb. Sweet smoky peppers show through the chocolate, cinnamon is dialed back. Interesting at a basic level, and easy to drink.

can:   Nearly black, thin sudsy beige head, little lacing.   Sweet roasted malt nose, some chocolate, perhaps even a little bit of pepper.   Sweet roastiness first, sweet pepper second, a touch of cinnamon last.   This is tasty!   Brings me back a little to when I had Morning Brunch, except that was twice the beer this is (sorry Maui).   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Roasty, chocolaty, with some minor pepper and even more minor cinnamon on the finish.   I bet this on Nitro would be fun!

Can from Appellation Wines, Comely Bank. Pours very dark brown with a big tan head, which goes quite quickly. In fact, the carbonation dissipates very fast. Chocolate, liquorice, smoke notes. No chilli heat on the taste, which is a good thing, but otherwise the beer Iíve been least impressed with from this brewery.
