Piano key black. Nice tall head, dark latte foam in color and consistency, but it doesn't last. Smells irony (like Guinness), dominated by caramel and chocolate, with the faintest waft of cinnamon. Kinda like the cinnamon brownies I make. Kinda. There's a hint of walnut here that I really dig, and a bit of brown sugar. Nice.
For a beer that lists cinnamon, chipotle, and chocolate as ingredients, this doesn't taste much like cinnamon, chipotle, and chocolate. There's a vague cola-like cinnamon spice note, even vaguer smokiness, and somehow less chocolate than an ordinary stout. Mostly this tastes like liquorice – molasses, dates, cola, anise – which is no bad thing, not at all. But it doesn't do, as they say, what it says on the tin. The texture is a bit thin and bubbly as well, and that, combined with the oddly spiced flavor, makes me feel like this is less a great stout and more like a good (but weird) whisky and cola.

Can... Murky dark brown ale with a small, fizzy, fleeting, khaki head. The nose is a lush marriage of vanilla and milk chocolate. Medium-bodied with a creamy mouthfeel and soft carbonation. The flavor is full of carbonic roastiness, but is otherwise mostly bland. Finishes minerally and a touch acrid. Bottle courtesy of darkguardian!

355 ml can from Cotteridge Wines (I think). One of my favourite breweries. Here goes... jet black - no reddish tint here. Smells sweet but not sickly - kind of an oaty, sweet cereal, like flapjack or Golden Grahams (love them) but with some marzipan and Baileys as well - really great aroma. Smooth feel with slight fizz at the end. The taste could be fuller and longer lasting, which is a slight disappointment on an otherwise great experience, but there’s dark chocolate and mild coffee malt here. Still one of my favourite breweries, even if this just falls short of greatness.

Can. Dark reddish black pour, with a light tannish head and some weird sludge at the bottom. Chocolate, notes of dark fruit, roast, and anise. The chipotle and cinnamon are very light, barely noticeable. Ok

From the can: "This belgian stout is brewed with chocolate, cinnamon, and chipotle. It pours deep black with ruby highlights. Layered with roasted malt character and hints of bittersweet dark chocolate clove, cinnamon and subtle peppery notes in the nose."
Pours dark brown with light mocha sheet. Smells of chocolate, clove, burnt popcorn, little bit of cinnamon and vanilla. Taste is cocoa, toasted malts, some vanilla, some corn, a little astringent. Full bodied with light carb and an off-dry finish. Not impressed whatsoever, lately their beers are more and more easily passed by. The only thing keeping me coming back is I’ve had all their offerings except the wit, which I think I will remedy. Not sure I’ve had all the beer from any other brewery not local to me.

Flagstaff can. Pitch black pour with a huge brown head. Big aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, and cayenne pepper. Flavor has some dark roasted malt and making chocolate with a spicy, warming finish. Good.
