4.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 19/20
caramel, chocolate, coffee, roasty, smoke, brown foam, black, light sweetness, medium bitterness, lightly sour, long finish, full body.
Got this as a gift from my housemate who bought it from Euston Tap last weekend. Porters and Stouts are what I always look for in craft brews and this one was absolutely spot on. First time I’ve ever heard of Maui Brewing Co. but they’ve blown me away with this one. Very nearly my perfect ale.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
A truly unique and exceptionally fine tasting Stout from Maui Brew Co. It’s a Belgian Stout inspired by ancient Mayan culture. That means there is chocolate and spices added. An interesting combination from a Hawaiian brewery.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
tan head that lingers. aroma of tart yeast, roasts, pepper and woody vegetation. Starts with flavor of coffee than goes into a subtle heat and finishes a tart lactic sour taste and chocolate aftertaste. Effervescent and light on the palate for a beer of it’s class definitely reminiscent of the Belgian Stout style. It’s much taster than other Belgian Stouts I’ve had. The spices and chocolate really help flesh out the flavor spectrum that exists between tart yeastiness and dark malt.

Wonderful looking beer poured into my PBR goblet!. Black as night with a thick tan head creamy goodness.
Cocoa,burnt malts and caramel nose..pleasing.
Taste is semi dark chocolate, slightly smokey, roasted nuts and oats and a faint hot pepper..excellent stuff.
Great palate..keeps my taste buds tingling and guessing!
I really liked this one.
I have had only 2 beers from this brewer and loved them both. Must try more.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Hawaiian chocolate and Hawaiian chilies, eh? I’m sold! The aroma alone is enough to make you submit effortlessly to its charm. Extremely dark brown in color… well, let’s just call it black… this has the nose that’s like an all-star sports event. All the best players (at least for a stout). There’s the smooth, slightly Belgianish, rich, sweet, classy chocolate stout character, the chili pepper meatiness, the great balance of spices and vegetables (cinnamon and chipotles), and the perfect level of sweetness – not too sweet, not too dry. It’s just rich and roasted enough in the nose to keep your attention, and not so much that it takes away from its subtleties.
Although it’s very impressive in the mouth as well, it’s not quite as fantastic as the experience in the nose. Still, it’s wicked good. I love chipotle (or any chili pepper stout for that matter). The meatiness from the peppers is hard to beat and a perfect compliment to the rich, roasted character of the dark malts. As much of a fan of chipotle stouts as I am, this one doesn’t let me down, and only facilitates my faith. Once you drink some of this some of the smokiness begins to present itself… even in the nose, where it wasn’t obvious at first. There’s practically no burn to this. Almost all of the chipotle character is in the flavor, and it’s issued very well. It finishes with a touch of cinnamon, pepper, and chocolate with almost no pronounced roasted malts. What is or may have been there are graciously making way to some great
Meaty and rich, but with a smoothness thanks to the Belgian yeast strain, this is, all-around, perfectly balanced in every way. I’m very impressed by this beer.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
On tap at the brew pub in lahaina. Pours dark with a tan head. Aroma is very chocolaty. Flavour takes a different turn, with the spices taking hold of the show. Some smokiness as it finished and then into the roasted barley and coffee notes. Very complex I love it! Palate needs work. Its way too thin and watery. Probably preferable in the hot humid climate, but strange compared to most stouts. Overall this is a really good beer though.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Can from Coppers, Newcastle. This is an inky black beer that pours out of the can with a rapidly disappearing dark brown head. It has rich chocolate and spicy fruity flavours, earthy woody chilli notes with a sweet tart chocolate finish.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
A fine seasonable beer, one that competes well with their Coconut Porter. Normally I am not a fan of adding all manner of extra nonsense to beer, but I may have to give up this fight. A Maui beer brewed in the Belgian style with a Mayan twist.; just about as convoluted as ever, but tasty.

Taste is peppers, dark chocolate, roasted malt, cocoa, soft cinnamon and chocolate milk. Body is medium but rather creamy and no real heat from the peppers. Ends with more pepper notes, chocolate cake, chocolate milk, soft cinnamon and roasted malt.

Can. Aroma is chocolate with notes of chillies. Pours black with a short light brown head. Taste is chocolate with a hint of spice from the chillies. Finishes smooth with a bit of cinnamon. Well-balanced between the chocolate and chillies.
