COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sure.. the scientists have published essays, the philosophers poems, the naysayers flyers.. but here at the center of the Maui Brewing micro-verse, we are publishing the ultimate in doomsday aloha – this year’s last canned seasonal, Aloha B’ak’tun! The word aloha conveys both greeting and goodbye in the Hawaiian language and B’ak’tun refers to the 3000+year cycle of the Mayan Calendar which is ending. This apocalyptic Belgian-style stout is brewed with Hawaiian chocolate, locally-grown chipotle chilies and cinnamon spice.

Spiced chocolatey aroma. Black color with a tan head that settles down to wisps. Excellent roast-chocolate flavor with a very light touch of the cinnamon and heat of the chilies in the finish at the back of the throat. Delicious

12-oz. can poured into a Maui Brewing shaker. Appearance is that of strong coffee with a half-finger, very uniform dark beige head. Muddled nose of cinnamon, baker’s chocolate, cloves, prunes, and a touch of chili. Flavor is bittersweet at first with chocolate, cinnamon, and agave syrup notes before a faint ester note emerges. The chipotle comes through on the aftertaste with a moderate tongue-prickling heat, but it doesn’t lend much spice to the taste. Silky texture, light body, and low carbonation with a spicy finish that carries for quite a while. It’s worth trying but doesn’t surpass very many of the other similar chocolate-chili stouts I’ve tried.

Chocolatey with a hint of cinnamon but I get no hint of chipotle. What’s with all these beers I’ve had lately promising assorted chilies but showing little or no sign of them? Tasty but not worth the price of admission.

A very nice brew. Pours deep chocolate brown. A nice chocolate and espresso flavor with a spiced after taste. I will be having more of this one! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours black with a nice head. Light aroma of dark malt, caramel and hops. Smooth taste with almost a milk stout smoothness. Malt and not much spice on the taste I’d say.

UPDATED: AUG 5, 2013 Can at home, BOE, 04/08/13. Dark black with a frothy tan head. Nose is dark berry fruits, light roast, light spice. Taste comprises dark chocolate, cocoa nibs, sugars, earthy, light chilli notes, dark tangy fruits, ribena berries. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, tangy dark fruit finale. Solid enough stout - one I’d return to.

can:   Nearly black, thin sudsy beige head, little lacing.   Sweet roasted malt nose, some chocolate, perhaps even a little bit of pepper.   Sweet roastiness first, sweet pepper second, a touch of cinnamon last.   This is tasty!   Brings me back a little to when I had Morning Brunch, except that was twice the beer this is (sorry Maui).   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Roasty, chocolaty, with some minor pepper and even more minor cinnamon on the finish.   I bet this on Nitro would be fun!

Can @ Dean’s Birthday tasting, courtesy of zer0. Pours a very dark, almost black beer with a small biege head on top. Faint aroma of licorice, chocolate and Belgian yeastiness. Flavour is medium sweet, light alcoholic and malty. Short finish and a quite watery body. Decent.
