COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Sure.. the scientists have published essays, the philosophers poems, the naysayers flyers.. but here at the center of the Maui Brewing micro-verse, we are publishing the ultimate in doomsday aloha – this year’s last canned seasonal, Aloha B’ak’tun! The word aloha conveys both greeting and goodbye in the Hawaiian language and B’ak’tun refers to the 3000+year cycle of the Mayan Calendar which is ending. This apocalyptic Belgian-style stout is brewed with Hawaiian chocolate, locally-grown chipotle chilies and cinnamon spice.

Can shared at Chris’ pad. Coffee, chili, and light malt aromas. Dark brown pour with an off white head. Mellow roasted malt notes with mild and coffee and chili undercurrents. A little thin and watery.

UPDATED: OCT 30, 2013 Almost black with a light brown head. Aroma of smoked chili peppers, anise, chocolate, and funky fruity yeast notes. Taste is woody with a little chocolate and full of chili pepper flavor without really being spicy. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated, and a touch dry. Everything about this is kind of mild, but there’s really no other complaint.

Aroma of chocolate, and vegetables, with hints of dark roasted malts and coffee. Pours a solid blackish-brown with a long lasting khaki head and abundent fine lacing. The taste is dark chocolate, and roastiness, with hints of dark roasted coffee, pepper, and cinnamon. Medium body with moderate carbonation. A smooth mouthfeel. Overall, a very enjoyable and tasty brew.

Chocolate and cinnamon aromas are present. Dark black color with minimal tan foam. The taste is sweet up front which gives way to mild bitterness and has some very light lingering spice to it. The body is a little thin but slick on the palate

Can. Pours opaque black with a medium dark brown head and good lacing. Aroma is coffee, cigarettes, dark roasty malts, spices, cinnamon. Flavor is the same, with a touch of chili, but no real head. Light sweet, light bitter, light spicy finish. Medium body, bubbly carbonation, creamy mouthfeel. Not bad, not amazing.

Can. Couldn’t get my mouth around the name so I just called it "Hakuna Matata". hope that’s ok. Pours black, tan head. Nose is licorice, spicy pepper, dark chocolate. Flavour has a bit of dusty coffee, choc, pepper comes through on the finish but not too spicy at all, smooth mouthfeel (which seems a given for all stouts poured from cans). Nice, these guys do non-traditional ingredients quite well imho.

Near black pour with tan head. Aroma is chocolate chip cookie dough, licorice. Flavour has dark chocolate, licorice, and on the finish some pepper and cinnamon spice. Little bit of Belgian influence. Nice blend.

355ml can from Ales by Mail

Pours pitch black with a large thick foamy brown head. Aroma of roasty malts, spices, hints of ash, cocoa and dark chocolate. Taste is smooth, sweetish, slightly roasty and spicy with a touch of cocoa, cinnamon and yeast. Finish is smooth, sweetish and slightly ashy with hints of roastiness and spices. Decent, a bit unbalanced spicy stout.
