COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

Big Swell IPA is a fresh handcrafted India Pale Ale brewed with huge amounts of American hops and malted barley...dry hopped to perfection!

Pours a clear yellow. Nose is a balanced mix of fruits, flowers and pine. Pine with notes of grass and fruit. Long, sharply bitter aftertaste. Very nice.

Can. Hazy light amber with a thin head. The aroma is fresh pine with dried orchard fruits. On the palate there is medium bitterness that is somewhat resinous, a fair bit of chewy malt, and a little alcohol in the finish. While the dry-hops come across fairly fresh for such a widely-distributed beer, the flavour hops are somewhat cheesy. All told I am certainly enjoying this on my cliffside perch in Huelo, but taken out of context it’s just an ok IPA.

Pours a golden color with a fluffy white head. Hop, caramel, citrus, biscuit and malt aroma. Hop, grass, grapefruit, caramel, biscuit, pine, leather and malt flavors. Lots going on here. Medium body and carbonation. Good bitterness that stands out but isn’t overwhelming. Citrus, leather and malt finish.

Huge mango nose. Great citrus bite, tropical hops, pineapple, biscuit malt backbone, happy hoppy finish. Quite an outstanding hoppy brew out of Hawaii. Maui beach in a brew!

From the can in Kona. Pours amber orange with big head. Smells of faint hops, some pine and grapefruit. Taste is more of a bitter hop, grapefruit based IPA. Basic, nothing outstanding. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can from The Beer Cellar July 2013. Love a good IPA in a can and this one is quite good. Hoppy with a good dose of malt.

Pours a semi hazy light copper color decent packed head. Aroma is pineapple and grapefruit and slight tangerine. Taste follows the aroma well. Some citrucy bitterness on the back end. Medium mouth feel. Pretty good.
