3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Amber with an off white head. Aroma is a piney hop profile, light caramel, light alcohol, resin. Taste is light caramel, light hoppiness, faint alcohol, light fruit- seems more like a hoppy amber.

For being a Paciific IPA I was expecting a nod in the hop profile to the local PNW hops. That was not there. Also there’s a heavier, creamier texture than is usual to the style. Some residual sweetness adds to the flaws. Still an enjoyable beer, just not quite meeting expectations - part of those were from me and part of thsoe stemming from the label as an IPA.

3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
12oz can. Pours a slightly hazed, bright orange body with a finger-width, slowly dissipating, white head that leaves a moderate to heavy soapy lacing. Aroma is straight up citrusy and flowery hops. A light earthy pine and some nice, soft, lightly sweet caramels. Flavor is much more subdued than anticipated. Some juicy oranges, tangerines, grapefruit, and lemon with a nice caramel body, but still misleading after the big-time dry hopped aroma. Finishes dry and lingers with a moderate earth, resiny citrus. Medium bodied and clean. Overall, a decent and well balanced IPA, but not nearly as tasty as some other west coast IPAs.

Sampled from a 12-oz can during Dark Lord Day ’09 at table 1. Pours a semi-clear orange amber colored brew with an average off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma of caramel malt tangerine and a hint of grapefruit. Taste is medium bodied, with flavors of caramel malt, citrus zest, a hint of grapefruit and a touch of spice. Finish is semi-sweet, mildly bitter with a short lived grapefruit and caramel aftertaste.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12oz can. Opaque amber with a medium sized, sticky white head. The aroma is fruity, malty, and hoppy, with flowers, spicy tangerine and some cherry. Not very powerful for an IPA aroma, but it is quite nice. The flavor is a little on the malty side with more juicy hop flavor and not very much bitterness for an IPA. There are notes of caramel, toast, and oranges. Medium-light bodied with medium carbonation and a soft finish that seems a little empty due to the lack of any lasting bitterness. Started really nice with a cool aroma, but couldn’t really follow through in the finish.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
straight from the can as Jesus intended. Fresh grassy nose with some nice spice behind it, a little sweet pine, maybe a touch of candied grapefruit ribbon candy. The beer pours (yes, i poured a little into a glass for ratings sake) a slightly hazed orange with a very full blanket of lace-inducing off-white suds atop. Flavors were juicy citrus and sweet pine and not very bitter...thus the english variety of hops..Extremely balanced but with enough hop flavor to make it qualify for IPA standards...not very bitter and more sweet and juicy than anything. Very clean though...with the flavors coming on strong and refined. Needs a bit more alcohol to dry it out a bit, but I dig it.
