COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

Big Swell IPA is a fresh handcrafted India Pale Ale brewed with huge amounts of American hops and malted barley...dry hopped to perfection!

12oz. can with thanks to AgentSteve for this great bonus! Pours a cloudy golden orange with a large fluffy tan head, excellent retention and lacing. Aroma is hoppy floral, citrus and light pine. Flavor is a lighter hops bite than expected from the aroma, but pleasant none the less, with more citrus standing out. Enjoyable and an IPA I would have in the fridge regularly if it was locally available. Thanks again Steve!

12 oz can from my Secret Santa. Thanks! Hazy brownish red pour with slight hazy and lively effervescence. Big, frothy head. Nice citrus, floral hop aroma. Spicy, fresh hop taste with notes of green apple. Medium body.

Can, thanks to WeeHeavySD. Pours a murky brownish-amber with a thin white head and lingering white lacing. Big hops aroma, with pine and spices. Bitter hops taste, with cloves, pine, and a hint of alcohol. Nice lingering bitterness. Very tasty IPA.

From a can pruchased at a loca gas station. Poured dark gold with a nice big head. Aroma is spice and floral hops. Mouthfeel is full and bubbly. Flavor is very good with a lot of citrus and sweet malt balanced perfectly with hop bitterness. This is really good stuff.

Bottle with a big thanks to KieferUGA, who procured this from a trade. Aroma was good with a nice amount of citrus and grapefruit with a good caramel base. Flavor was balanced with a nice caramell backbone. Bitterness had a good amount of bitterness. Really good for the style and glad that I was lucky enough to have this.

12 oz can from bevmo. Pours a copper color with a big sudsy off white head that had good retention and plenty of lacing. The aroma is strong and hoppy with citrus and pine. Really good nose. The taste is hoppy, smooth caramel, sweet ripe peaches, a bit of vanilla and toffee malts. The mouthfeel is smooth and malty. The finish is short and sweet. Overall: This is one hell of an IPA, and it comes from a can.

12oz can. Poured aggressively with glugs, where’s the vent? Pours dark orange with a moderate sized, fizzy head, decent retention, specks of lace. Smells pretty awesome, very hoppy. Dark citrusy, somewhat bitter, somehwhat sweet, slightly metallic. Tastes of big, caramelly, earthy hops. Starts bitter, finishes sweet. Medium body, good carbonation.

12oz. can. Big, citric hop aroma with notes of pine, grapefruit and orange rind dominating, along with some lighter, gentler toasty malts and floral sweetness in the background. Hazy light-medium amber color with a lasting, fine, uneven head. Flavor is likewise very strongly hoppy and bitter throughout with a far lighter degree of toasted caramel and honeyish malt present, finishing with strong, juicy grapefruit and fresh pine as well. Resinous, oily and relatively smooth palate, body is medium-full. I am almost surprised at how hopped up this is, for some reason. Certainly not complaining, though, mind you...

Bottle courtesy of Sparky27...Eric, thanks!!! Burnt orange brew with a nice eggshell head that stuck with the beer throughout the tasting. This beer has a considerable amount of malt...caramel, toffee, and brown sugar are perhaps more dominant than the pine, citrus, and lemongrass. Very tasty...and unique for the style.
