3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz can from bevmo. Pours a copper color with a big sudsy off white head that had good retention and plenty of lacing. The aroma is strong and hoppy with citrus and pine. Really good nose. The taste is hoppy, smooth caramel, sweet ripe peaches, a bit of vanilla and toffee malts. The mouthfeel is smooth and malty. The finish is short and sweet. Overall: This is one hell of an IPA, and it comes from a can.

12oz can. Poured aggressively with glugs, where’s the vent? Pours dark orange with a moderate sized, fizzy head, decent retention, specks of lace. Smells pretty awesome, very hoppy. Dark citrusy, somewhat bitter, somehwhat sweet, slightly metallic. Tastes of big, caramelly, earthy hops. Starts bitter, finishes sweet. Medium body, good carbonation.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz. can. Big, citric hop aroma with notes of pine, grapefruit and orange rind dominating, along with some lighter, gentler toasty malts and floral sweetness in the background. Hazy light-medium amber color with a lasting, fine, uneven head. Flavor is likewise very strongly hoppy and bitter throughout with a far lighter degree of toasted caramel and honeyish malt present, finishing with strong, juicy grapefruit and fresh pine as well. Resinous, oily and relatively smooth palate, body is medium-full. I am almost surprised at how hopped up this is, for some reason. Certainly not complaining, though, mind you...

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle courtesy of Sparky27...Eric, thanks!!! Burnt orange brew with a nice eggshell head that stuck with the beer throughout the tasting. This beer has a considerable amount of malt...caramel, toffee, and brown sugar are perhaps more dominant than the pine, citrus, and lemongrass. Very tasty...and unique for the style.

3.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
This reddish copper ale poured from a can with a decent beige head and a floral aroma. There is a delicious caramel malt base overlaid with just the right amount of bittering hops to produce a smooth refreshing flavor.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz can courtesy WeeheavySD. Pours a copper amber color with a thick off white head. Nice creamy citrus, pine hop aroma. Taste is chewy citrus hops with a nice creamy malt. Has a nice crispness that makes this a good warm weather beer, very refreshing citrus fruit taste and dry bitter finish. Well done IPA.

Pours attractive ruddy copper with a full cream colored head that persists. The nose is rich with pineapple and caramel. The flavor follows suit with an additional earthy influence. Subtle bitter finish.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
In short: An extra refreshing IPA focussing on the orange/pine-cone juice hops with little malt distraction
How: Can, sample at Mondial de la Bière 2008
The look: Cloudy glowing orange body topped by a medium beige head
In long: Nose is fruity and foresty with a little cat litter. Body is very fluffy. Malt backbone is discrete, not a whole lot of caramelized malts here. Sweetness flavour is dried fruits and some honey. A lot of hops and then some more. Hops fruitiness is orange followed by pine-cone juice. Bitterness of medium intensity. An overall crisp and fresh sensation. A ton of hops and a discrete malt profile usually bothers me but this one is so refreshing that the slight unbalance is actually quite fitting. Drinking it I was imagining myself on a Hawaiian beach on a hot sunny day and all the scenery that comes with it… my pants were feeling much tighter than usual.

Again, I can’t get used to a great beer coming from a can, but Maui Brewing may convert me. Pours an oily gold with a big white head. Fresh hop aroma with lots of pineapple and grapefruit. More grapefruit, pineapple, mango and orange hops in the taste with a subtle caramel malt back. Light, sweet, and bitter all in one package. A great IPA.
