COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

Big Swell IPA is a fresh handcrafted India Pale Ale brewed with huge amounts of American hops and malted barley...dry hopped to perfection!

Saboreada siempre desde la lata.Buen balance entre caramel y lúpulo.Bien definida sin llegar a ser demasiado amarga.Muy bebible.Suerte de que viene en lata de tan lejos y aun preserva su frescor.

Big swell is bold in smell, dank. Foamy head. Taste is both bitter and citrusy. Finish is long. Complimented smokey flavored food well. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

On draft at union jack pub, winchester, VA. Very well balanced. Malty pine aroma and flavor approaches. The long forgotten EKG hop. Finishes malty with a clean pine crisp finish.

Canned; no freshness date.

Hops are definitely fresh here, showing a fair amount of aromatic sweetness amidst the pine. This makes its way to the palate, joining forces with a fair amount of malt before presenting itself. Finishes bitter and dry with a moderate bite from the hop oils at the end.

A nice IPA overall, and a solid example of East Kent Golding hops in action.

No soy muy fan de las IPAs pero esta me gustó mucho. A pesar de lo amarga que está me conquistó por su buen sabor.

Can. Shared on Skype with madsneergaard. Clear orange with a sustainable head. Aroma: Orange, caramel, bready, citrus, pine and grassy notes. A nice blend of sweet and hoppy aromas. Taste: Much more aggressive than the nose, grapefruit, pomegranate, still some piney notes, but the sweetness is not prevalent. Lively carbonation. The finish is dry, bitter and there’s almost some salty notes. Overall a really nice IPA and really showcases how diverse the aroma and the taste of a beer can be. With it’s ABV it’s not quite sessionable, but it’s incredibly drinkable and really suits the hot weather.

Can. Reviewed with my good friend Licoriceking over Skype :) Very nice in the glass! Nice golden orange, not completely cloudy, nor completely clear. Just as an IPA should look like! Aroma is oranges, sugar sweetness, but also a bit pine, and a nice bitterness to it. Pretty well balanced but maybe a bit more on the sweeter side. Wow, big difference in the taste! Much more bitter. Specially the aftertaste is very bitter, and stays for a long time. The sweet fruits like oranges are almost non-existent in the taste. Mouthfeel is on the bigger side og medium, long and you guessed it - bitter! :) While the aroma indicated a much more balanced IPA the taste gives an impression of a real West Coast style IPA - super hoppy, super bitter. There’s not a lack of fruit taste in the beer, grapefruit, oranges, pomegranate, but it is definitely the bitterness that is the most dominant. In summarize, this is a very good IPA. It’s cool to get two very different impressions in the aroma and the taste. A good and very solid IPA.

can at mondial de la bière, mtl. clear yellow straw with a minimal white head and retention. subtle citrus - seems faded, peppery, spicy, peach, light pine, some crisp pale malts and herbs. average carbonation, light to medium body - oily, decent spicy-citrusy finish. fresh can to re-rate?

Canned on 4-15-2013. Opened on 6-4- 2013. Still seems fresh. A refreshing, balanced IPA, without the over-the-top concentration and alcohol. Mildly spicy, herbal hops, mix with pleasant bitter citrus nuances, subtle florals and undertones of bready malt. Well balanced and easy to drink. Solid bitter citrus finish reminds you this is a West Coast IPA. Balanced malt framework stays in background, only adding to a fuller mouthfeel. Creamy, round carbonation. Not the biggest, most intense IPA.. And that is what is most appreciated! Solid. Would buy again as a daily drinker or simple refreshment. --- tasted while on a long journey to understand the world around me...

Pours gold with some head and lacing. Lots of earthy hops, notes of cereal and malty sweetness. A bit sticky in the mouth with lots of carbonation.

Pours amber with a white head. Grapefruit, pine, sweet malt. Pretty good IPA but a bit more sweet/malty than I like. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
