COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

Big Swell IPA is a fresh handcrafted India Pale Ale brewed with huge amounts of American hops and malted barley...dry hopped to perfection!

Light brown pour from tap. Appeared light for an IPA, fruity aroma and medium bitterness. Sort of tropical/floral taste, soft fruitiness and a thin mouthfeel. Would I drink again? yes. Would I order again? no.

This draft brew from a beer bar poured a small sized head of foamy with a frothy top finely sized white colored bubbles that were mostly diminishing and left behind a uncarbonated transparent weak yellow orange colored body and a very good lacing. The mild aroma was hoppy and musty. The mouth feel was tingly at the start and at the finish with a medium hoppy aftertaste. The semi-sharp flavor contained notes of hops. An OK brew just nothing special.

355 cl can, served in shaker. Pours cloudy golden with greenish shades. Off-white head is thick and long-lasting. Aroma is intense bitter herbs (rucola, dandelion), grapefruit, green mango. Taste is dry and fresh, somewhat watery but with a very powerful and long-lasting bitter finish that brings back grapefruit and coffee.

Can six weeks from can date pours a hazy golden orange with a thick two finger eggshell head and massive lacing. Smells of tropical fruit, grapefruit, and yeast. Tastes a little on the boring side with muted flavors and mild bitterness. What flavor is there is good though. Aftertaste is a decent citrus bitter. A bit above okay.

This was a light beer that didnt have too many hops to overpower the palate. It was on the lighter side with not many malts.

Hieman samea kullankeltainen olut kohtalaisella vaahdolla. Hedelmäinen ja varsin IPAmainen raikkaan trooppinen tuoksu. Maku hedelmäinen, makeahko, hieman katkera ja ehjä kokonaisuus.

6.8%ABV. IPA. Poured out light amber. 8ºSRM. Nose is pine and sweet malt. There is a slight resinous, sap like funk to the nose. Mouthfeel is light soapy. There is a good solid sweet malt backbone with toasty flavors of lightly buttered wheat toast, toasted graham crackers or a Graham cracker pie crust, lightly honeyed toast and pop tarts. Hops are bitter, with strong pine and maybe a touch of pine sap. Not much bitter which is herbaceous and reminiscent of bitter herbs. Finish is medium and medium bitter. Finishes clean and perfectly balanced, like the perfect ride on a seasoned longboard. Goes on Favorites List !

Poured from a can at Holsteins in OC. Slightly cloudy golden color with fizzy white head. Earthy, bready aroma. Taste is mellow, pretty malty. Also getting earth and ash in the taste. Hops are subdued. Didn’t enjoy this one.

Cloudy, yellow pour with nose of citrus, pineapple. Big hop bite and bitterness. The bitterness somewhat overpowers the flavor. More of a hop bomb than a well balanced IPA.

On tap at Hop & Vine in north Burnaby. A nice amber orange with generous pale head and bittersweet hop nose. Medium citrus hop with plenty of malt. Nice. 3.9
