COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
India Pale Ale was developed in Burton, England, as a "Super-Premium" hoppy pale ale around 1800. The extra strength in alcohol and hops helped preserve the beer on its long export journeys to India and beyond. The style developed a following worldwide. Its flavor begins with a smooth, malty creaminess followed with a big burst of dry-hop flavor from English Kent Golding Hops. It then finishes with a lingering yet pleasant bitterness.

Big Swell IPA is a fresh handcrafted India Pale Ale brewed with huge amounts of American hops and malted barley...dry hopped to perfection!

Intense pine, resin, citrus nose. Amber/orange/gold. Great malt sweetness balanced by hoppy bitterness. One of the better IPAs out there. The aroma is intense and is present in every sip...another great beer from Maui Brewing.

Aroma - hops, heavy citrus, floral; Appearance - light copper, slightly hazy, fluffy head, laces nicely; Taste - very balanced front, sweet hop tang blends well throughout the back, finish has a long but not overpowering bitterness; Palate - smooth especially for the style, excellent body; Overall - well built, great in all aspects, one of the best IPAs I’ve ever had.

12 oz. cans. Poured with a full, thick head. Tangerine and slight pine with a touch of grassy aroma. Citrus comes out a little in taste, but has some grass and a touch of funkiness that I can’t pinpoint. Very smooth with a small lasting impression of pine from the hops. Really a nice beer and I’m glad I have 5 more cans!

355ml can from Appellation Wines, Edinburgh. Amber peach colour, big head. Flowery perfume hop aroma & flavour. Quite light for an IPA. Wish it came in a bottle.

[355ml can, Appellation Wines, Edinburgh] Vibrant golden IPA with a peaky white head. Tropical fruit aromas to match the can’s artwork – it’s like drinking a can of Lilt. Citrus and fresh pine sap on the nose, beautiful taste of grapefruit and other pithy citrus fruit. Mango and peach in there as well. Sweet and sticky, before the long, refreshing bitter finish. Until now, the only semi-regular WCoast canned IPA here has been Caldera IPA. This is just as good [16082011]

Well-hopped with a creamy mouthfeel and floral notes. Slight dark chocolate after-taste adds a sort of "stickiness" at the back of the throat that is very enjoyable.

Brought a couple cans back from a recent trip to Oahu. Bought at liquor collection. After tasting, I wish I had bought a bunch more. Tasted at Logan’s house with Logan and deftim13. Big 1 finger fluffy off-white head. In your face huge hop aroma that was phenomenal on the pour. Grassy herbal aroma notes. Lots of hop flavor, but mellow hop bitterness. Sweet, but extremely well balanced. Yum!
